This was one of my closing pieces in the recital. It starts out as world music, but abruptly reaches a point of downright ridiculousness. After about 60 seconds, you will see why it's titled "Humoresque"

Humoresque (2017)

Initially inspired by an unpublished original string quartet I had written several years ago, this piece started out as a spin-off arrangement. As I continued to write, I realized how using a piano with strings changed the color and texture of the piece. Because of this, the unpublished string quartet was abandoned from use entirely early on and The First Piano Quartet went on to become it’s own distinct work.

The Finale of the Underspace Soundtrack is the product of entire days spent composing and meticulously polishing. This is the final piece in the soundtrack, so I had to make it count. It is also the track I put the greatest amount of time and thought into. Of all the music I’ve composed for Underspace, the Finale is what I’m most proud of.
