Juicebox Music's 69th release sees ARTN's 2-track EP featuring "Blue Frog" & "Loops", originally released in late 2022, getting its remix treatment. The Lebanese-born, currently based in Turkey, artist made his debut on our imprint with this release, planting his foot as a forward-thinking and sonically charged artist. Gaining high praise for his work on this EP, it was due time that it saw a fresh breath of life and we're excited to have Eric Lune & foglight deliver their magic to it.

Returning for his second remix duty on the imprint, Melbourne-based artist - Eric Lune, is no stranger to the fold. With an impactful debut EP, followed with an appearance on our "Tales of Time" downtempo compilation as well as a legendary remix for Jiminy Hop's "Summered", we're thrilled that he's back and with a bang! Eric Lune turns ARTN's title track "Blue Frog" into an epic, euphoric & lustrous tale that ensures oneself to reveal an unworldly sense of emotions. A feat that Eric has truly mastered.

To remix ARTN's "Lopos", we called in fellow countryman and good friend - foglight, to make his inaugural appearance on Juicebox Music. With a wealth of music production knowledge, technical wizardry & supreme sense of quality, foglight's productions have catapulted his name into the spotlight. A 15th release sees Eric Lune & Juan Sapia make their Proportion debut with a twin-track offering. Combining on Dmitry Molosh’s highly regarded imprint, the duo announce their “Deliverence / Tension Release” EP.

Both seasoned operators in the world of DJ performance and studio production, Eric Lune and Juan Sapia have amassed a sizeable collection of air miles and label releases in their rise to the upper echelons of the underground dance industry. Responsible for over 150 credits and a century of releases, the Eric Lune has found himself at home on some of the finest imprints including Sound Avenue, Plattenbank and a January 2024 release on the ever-impressive Balance Music. Similarly, Juan Sapia can point to a growing and illustrious portfolio that has seen a double century of credits feature on a host of blue-chip labels since a Balkan Connection debut in late 2017. Work for Clubsonica Records, Mango Alley and Paul Thomas’ UV, has subsequently propelled the Argentinean star to new heights.

The opener finds Eric Lune & Juan Sapia deliver a rhythm-fuelled powerhouse through “Deliverence”. A chest-thumping kick and shaker-driven percussive section immediately create dancefloor urgency while dreamy pads and an hypnotic motif create melodic intrigue. Evolving with wonderfully syncopated synth phrasing, the dancefloor feel continues across the track’s phases as it explodes into life at 3 minutes with a drop that brings in an uplifting new synth phrase and evolves through the breakdown. Hitting its rhythmic mark once more in the third movement, the combination of filtered phrasing adds even greater dynamism.

Continuing the groove-inspired foundation courtesy of a lavish rhythm section, “Tension Release” is another dancefloor destroyer. As Meanwhile Horizons readies itself for an 18th impressive release, Matter and Eric Lune join forces for an Australian triple-tracker on “Starlight / Memory Burn / EyeAndYou”.

Both shining lights within the progressive fraternity, Melbourne-based Matter and Eric Lune are individually responsible for a plethora of high-profile releases on such leading imprints as Balance Music, Vapour Recordings and Proton Music. Now the co-founder of the Meanwhile brand joins forces with a label debutant as Meanwhile Horizons brings together Matter and Eric Lune for their collaborative debut.

Replete with trademark progressive house tropes, “Starlight” opens proceedings with a typically smooth and luscious sonic landscape. A heavy beat and shimmering percussive backdrop combine with rippling arpeggio to pave the way for a lead motif that takes centre stage. Full of warm feelgood overtones, subtle vocal textures build as layers of new melody and pitched synth effects create an elegant and blissful wall of sound.

“Memory Burn” offers a slightly faster-paced touch with its kick / snare combination and triplet hi-hat shuffle. A muted arpeggio soon enters the fray as its open filter cadence sits perfectly within the rhythmic backdrop. Adding dancefloor flavour, a smooth bassline sequence creates a stunning emotive atmosphere while a floating synth lead hits its zenith at the mid-point before dropping away to deliver a stunning new grooved bassline. Combining effortlessly in the second half, rhythm, melody and bass sizzle and sparkle in majestic fashion.

The final track finds a chunky rhythmic framework laying the foundation for a huge bassline groove to propel “EyeAndYou” into Ibiza dancefloor territory. Syncopated synth riffs sparkle while vocal flourishes and glassy keys create counterpoint melody aplenty as they pan across the stereo spectrum. The result is a delicate and effortless affair that resonates with a Way Out West / Jody Wisternoff air.

Having being a long time fan of Ólafur Arnalds, I've always wanted to put his spin on one of his songs. Upon the first listen of the opening track on his new album, I instantly had the idea to make a dance friendly edit of the beautiful track.
