Making stories has been my interest as long as I can remember. I liked to express my imagination in various ways but writing became the most convenient way to do so in school. In my high school senior year, when I seriously thought about my career, I made up my mind to treat writing more seriously since it would be something that I would love to do even if I sometimes get stressed out because of it. Still, I try not to limit my input and output solely on writing, and I am willing to learn literature from movies, pictures, graphic novels, animations, music, soap operas, performances, and even from old adventure games made in the 1980s and 1990s (such as Grim Fandango and Syberia—my uncle introduced those games to me) that have artistic values. I am still trying hard to become an accomplished writer who can communicate across different generations and different communities. My future plan so far is to study hard, and to continue writing novels until I can create something that can actually change one’s life for good.

Kristine Jiwoon Choi is a junior at Amherst College studying Sociology and Asian Languages and Civilizations. She is a member of the Green Amherst Project, serves as a Braintrust board member for Rethinking Communities with the Roosevelt Institute, and is part of the Social Innovation Leadership Team, a unique student-staff group dedicated to inspiring and supporting innovative approaches to social problems. Jayson Paul, Class of 2016 Amherst College, is a Physics and Philosophy double major. He grew up in the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the southern Caribbean. His interests include choral music and voice, mindfulness and meditation, writing and teaching. He is a member and leader of several on-campus organizations including the Mindfulness Club, the student-run musical theater group Rhythm and Shoes, the Amherst College Concert Choir and the Amherst College Chess Club. He also does physics research and is a teaching assistant and grader in the physics department.
