Eric Stark is well known in Melbourne for his fun, sunshine-filled sets that have one foot in indie-dance and another in the dark disco camp. Since his arrival in Australia, he’s played for many crews, most notably affiliating himself with the Thick as Thieves team. Recently, he has added ‘promoter’ to his portfolio with the advent of his own event series called Supernature, a semi-regular event at The Rochester Hotel in Fitzroy. For this mix, he delivers more of his trademark and infectious sound that is designed to make you come back for more.

The first word that comes to mind when one thinks of Eric Stark is: ‘versatility’. Trying to pinpoint a specific genre or sound, undermines his work. A DJ for the better part of 20 years, Eric feeds off of his crowds energy and in part takes them on a journey.

Originally from France, Eric Stark’s career spinning vinyl as well as digital has seen him play at globally renowned electronic music institutions such as Fabric; Rex Club; Revolver Upstairs among many others.

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of field. The selective focus that can be achieved by both tilting and shifting movements, It's compelling because the effect is different from that which you may have become accustomed to. This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.

We have the pleasure of performing a 3hr B3B in the Cage at Revolver Sundays Melbourne for Think As Thieves Winter Series Featuring Joyce Munzi. 

XTSS is the unilateral collaboration of XPRESS, TILT SHIFT & SUPERNATURE. With the recent gentrification of Indie dance, it made sense for these brands to unite under one banner and further promote the music they love!

Each artist and brand shines a spotlight on the core elements that make up indie dance while seamlessly overlapping, if they were a Venn diagram they would perfectly articulate what Indie Dance and Dark Disco are all about. XPRESS is primarily known for its seamless fusion of organic Rock elements with Arpeggiated Synthesis. SUPERNATURE pertains to all things Italo and synth-wave with a healthy dose of Funk, while TILT SHIFT brings the darkness with a focus on EBM, Techno, and New Beat.

Hailing from France, Eric found his feet in Paris, playing some the capitals biggest clubs including Rex Club, Batofar, and Social Club. He moved to London in 2009, where his growing reputation for deep and melodic grooves yielded appearances at Fabric, the EGG, Mode, and the Qube Project to name a few, as well as performances at famed festivals Glastonbury and Kazantip.

After making the move to Australian shores in 2016, Eric became a favourite on the Melbourne circuit, often billed on Thick as Thieves and Novel events. He has played revered venues including Revolver Upstairs, Brown Alley and Prince, and supported a slew of big-name internationals.

Eric’s sets are dynamic and float through a broad spectrum of genres, maintaining a consistent energy which translates to the dance floor. His music is feel-good. Fun, up-beat and uplifting. We’re sure you’ll love it as much as we do!

First of all, I’d like to give a massive thank you to Flow Sessions and 333 for giving me this wonderful opportunity to be showcased alongside some absolute legends and friends. For this mix I wanted to stay true to myself, play the music I enjoy, keep it fun, lively and understated. I always try to approach my sets with the dance floor in mind, so it is important for me to focus on keeping a good energy and have a few twists during the journey. In this mix you’ll find a mélange of music that has shaped my tastes growing up, has influenced my early Dj career and that keeps inspiring me to make people dance today.
