A collection of mixes that i have recorded at my studio various studios over the years or recorded live if i am playing somewhere. 
I do feel that it's not a good idea to replicate what i think is a unique once in a lifetime experience when we go out. To try & recapture that experience of energy amongst hundreds or thousands of people, the ambiance of the various venues is something powerful unto itself. And something I respect as a performing artist.
I do think the live performances and the studio performances are incomparable.
Likewise, what is done in the studios cannot be done in the club. This is also sometimes done on the road whilst touring. But it will alway come back to the studio for a last revision. Here the listening experience allows for a broader journey, experimentation is tailored for more personal moments.

This one started as a jam with a very static groove to begin with, Kick + Pulse Snare, and then the bass stabs to match. I had been spending my sort of newly isolated days new to Berlin, not knowing that many people just yet, and locking myself away in the studio. Watching plenty of John Carpenter movies (my favorite film maker) and digesting a whole load of 70's progressive rock & 80's film score soundtracks.
The whole thing came together pretty quickly, the arpeggio played out that way because I had been practising that scale and was finally able to make the run. 
I can't go into too much detail here without writing an essay in the universal powers but at some point and the same if for all of us who create in whatever ways we do, the artist becomes the instrument and at that perfect moment the universe and the artist are one.
This was the final production to leave the studio in 2012. Just before i turned off the computer for the last time and headed back to London from Berlin to meet my sister for Christmas on the 23rd of December. 
7 days later Jonny White Calls me on my birthday and asks to sign it to No.19.

Eric Volta - Love Your Illusion

This one started of as a jam session from a friend, but quickly all the parts has escalated and grew into it's own. It was yet another magic weekend in the studio as friend & music collaborator Gaika drops in with a few of his dutch friends. Chamireaux barely has the time to get acquainted and runs in & out of the studio after 10 minutes leaving this wonderful ad lib'd performance. Gretz then steps into the vocal booth and in just the same way leaves a great ad lib'd shortly after and makes a swift departure.
Gretz and I would meet again in the following weeks and work on more music together.


Eric Volta - Masters of Puppets

The inspiration for this remix came to me while sitting on Ray's sofa.  MY eyes were shut, and the mdma was working beautifully. Pattern Drama had written a beautiful track and the cello reached out to me. I instantly thought to elaborate on the classical side of this and engaged Afriqua & Hana to help me bring this idea to life. Each played to different versions of an early mix I had put together, with Afriqua and I working in my studio here in Berlin, whilst Hana (based in London) and i worked over Skype. A few days were spent gathering the recordings and making an arrangement layered with the Moog. 
This was a very enjoyable moment for me and marks the beginning of many more. 
Big love to Pattern Drama & Touch of Class for loving this remix and being supportive of it and to put it on the 12".

This track was originally released on BOUQ AID as a charity to provide food for children in Syria. This was before the war had broken out there. I had no idea at the time of how bad things would become. 
The charity is no longer collecting money for this aid so I am now putting this track out on band camp and I will forward all money from the purchase of this track to certain charities that are taking in refugees from anywhere in the world. 
I have not really made a decision on where this money will go exactly. But I want to see if we can raise money again for those who need help. 
A few years ago I posted a track to raise money to help buy food for people on the streets. We raised 82 Euros through donations and I went and made sandwiches myself and handed them out to the homeless in Berlin. 
There are millions of displaced people from all over the world right now who need help and I hope you can reach into your pockets again to raise some money to help these people. 
I ask a minimum of ‎€1 but of course you can donate more.

What can you do in 30 minutes?
I came into my studio a little over 1/2 an hour ago & thought of a fun game i haven't done in a while. Jam and finish it up in 30 minutes.
Fired up Ableton. Drum rack with 808 kick in channel 1.
Midi out Channel 2,3,4 to Moog, Juno60 & Juno 106 hitting C, with a slight melodic variation on MIDI channel 2 out to Moog.
Let's Jam! 
I record 10 Minutes.
Add extra midi Channel - Drum Rack with 606 hats.
One more live take on top of the whole thing with the 106. Live filter overdubs on the recorded tracks.
While going over it one last time - EQ, comping and adding reverbs , grouping
BOUNCE.

I always try to add a personal story here. This one comes about after a great week in the studio finishing 10 tracks. Some original & some remixes. I suppose this was more of a reward to my ears after a week long of trying to finish stuff with big kicks and energy. 
This one is really inspired by the recent passing of my uncle Farid & missing my family more than anything. 
There is much love in this world 
& it is good to be even be aware of it through death & loss.

True to what the remix title says. The Truth is i don't sleep very well.  In fact i downright suck at sleeping. I used to think this was a problem. I used to think I had a sleeping problem. However, in the last few years I tell myself 'I'm Blessed'. And Thats the Truth too! Jonny White calls is his super power. And i do agree. It is a super power.
This remix came in an instant. And thank goodness too. I had just come of my North America tour with Maher and i had 3 days to nail 3 remixes. Unfortunatly i didn't not make the grade with one of them. But i nailed the remix for Noah Pred and this one for Art Department. 
Dedicated to all my fellow Insomniacs who ar blessed with delirium, a longer life, and having to catch up on sleep in the life come after. I love you all.

06 We Draw A - Silent Tide (Eric Volta Knows His Drums Mix)

This composition couldn't have manifested in a more synchronic and poetic way.  The first person I had ever written an email to in music was Timo Maas. His reputation for being a nice guy, humble & respectable person in music was the sort of encouragement I needed to write to him in particular. This was way back in 2004 with my first record label Logicalnoise. Timo wrote back a very encouraging letter about my music. 
Fast forward to 2014 and a nice request from to send him some music for a compilation for My Favourite Robot's Crossing Wires compilation. I thought of what i could send him that would be appropriate but in the end writing something seemed a more honest approach. 
While struggling for a good idea, I spent some days writing, and although I came up with quite a few ideas, none hit the moment I was looking for. So going through Skype, I hit up Pablo (Monolitio). We are old internet friends, who once upon a time worked with the same manager - this is how we met.
Pablo sent me an few ideas and with some tweaking arrived at 'Dreams Don't Turn to Dust'.

The track will open Timo's mix and be available on CD from June.

The guys from My Favorite Robot are amongst some of my favourite  & loveliest people in music, so when Jared first sent the original from Flowes & Sea Creatures over Skype one day with a little message telling me I was 'really going to love this EP' - he wasn't kidding. I did love it! I asked to remix this one in particular. 
I also was on the road quite a bit and fell short of time to get the mix done. But as always with what little time I had in Berlin in between gigs the magic hit one night, yet again with the Moog when I sequenced this bassline, the whole thing came together almost instantly. The ambient introduction was to set the tone and contrast for the rest of the journey which runs to almost 9 1/2 minutes. The vocal is just so beautiful it really deserved its space without any percussive accompaniment.  I am a big fan of Flowers & Sea Creatures so it was a real pleasure to be able to remix this on MFR. Thank You!

Flowers & Sea Creatures - The Very Next Day (Eric Volta's Navigate The Untold Cosmos Remix)

This was my first ever Burning Man experience. I am in fact still trying to find the right words to describe my experience there. 
Moreover the Robot Heart performance. But sometimes music really shouldn't be described with words. At least in my position being an artist & composer. 
So thank you that this magical journey of mine was recorded!
It was quite something to be on top of that bus as the burners rode in on their bikes. And when the bus took off watching everyone jump right back on their bikes and follow the bus in what I can only call a ‘mass exodus’ onto the playa. I decided to dig deep into my old productions and new and some of my favourite journey tracks for this mix.
Thank you, big hug and love to all who joined in and danced along, and to Camp David, Robot Heart & Jonny for getting me involved.
I hope to be a part of this again. Either way, I’ll See you again next year for sure!

November 2013. Nestled in my warm studio during a cold Berlin winter night, I get a call from Gaika  asking if we could write some music together. Sometimes writing music is pure joy.  A spark of creativity leads to discovery and perpetual excitement.  But really when it's written with this sort intent on a cold winters night - it's therapy.  
This was one of those sessions. We talk and trade stories of our bruised & battered hearts & laying down line after line.  
Credit to my poet Gaika for some of the most stunning verses that have come into a creative writing moment.

I was in South Africa recently exploring & playing at Afrika Burn, Cape Town, Pretoria and ended my 3 week adventure there playing at one of my favourite places in the world TOY TOY​ in Johannesburg. Inarguably one of the most underrated and coolest places in the world to DJ. An intimate venue with an amazing sound system and a very dedicated & educated following. 
It's one of my top places anywhere to DJ.
I don't post too many sets but here a recording of my set there.

Bedouin was first featured on the label's 2015 Summer Sampler with ‚Flight Of Birds’ helping build their reputation as master music makers. 

Following on from this is their first full EP on All Day I Dream. 
Each track casts its own unique spell. One thing Rami and Tamer know is mood. Opening with 'Straight To The Heart' beauty and hypnotic vibes abound. Sounding as good pitched up as it does at it's patient pace, it's groove ignites the dance floor as well as the heart. 

‚The Way Home’ takes it's time to build textures and layers creating a more somber mood. 

The EP is close out with the vocals of Eric Volta on ‚Sight’, perfectly complimenting the overall mood of the release.

I've had the pleasure of watching Sunju Dj quite a few times now on my visits to Asia and have always really enjoyed his Dj sets, so when our brother from another mother Zig Zach asked us to join to the line with Marvin & Guy I proposed we play b2b and play a longer set together from open till M&G started their set. I love playing warm up and it's something I don't get to do very often unless I managed to play an all night set. We opened to a calm night in what is probably the coolest location I have ever played in Asia. What a joy and pleasure it was to play b2b with Sunju a dj that can understand and match even challenge my musical point of view. We have since played a few more b2bs together and I look forward to more!

Inspired by my upcoming gig at WOLFSTOCK in particular the word ' Wolf' and amidst thinking of how to record my podcast for them, I decided to make an edit of one of my all time favourite blues records from Howlin Wolf. This in turn triggered a wonderful weekend of writing edits and recording this very special mix. I think it was the first live jam i had with Forrest. I setup the microphone and wrote a quick groove one the machine drum. Very quickly laid down 'the right' bass line and jumped onto my Juno 60. What was to happen over the next 6 minute was pure emotion captured in one take. Such are the moments in music i love and live for.
