It’s hard to feel good about takes of this because it’s……quite a…..battle…….to play sometimes

But really though if I went “releasing” these or making them into an “official compilation”, this’ll definitely have more time sunk into it to get more of a feel and also more steadiness

continuing the trend of doing junky straight transcriptions (or close to that) played straight from a keyboard into the computer with no fancy editing or video with it

all of the tracks done thus far from the soundtrack are not necessarily on soundcloud, I've been sticking them on tumblr, and if they get all popular then I stick them up on here

played around a bit with this one, and those parallel sixths in the beginning are as good as I got those, shrug, I think it might be faster than it needs to be but oh well I’m done obsessively practicing and recording this

this one is way too much fun to play even though you have to sacrifice the deep bass tone in order to make it….playable

Undertale - Shop (Piano Cover)

geez it's been a while. this one was momentous enough to get through that I'm surprised I didn't toss it up on here way earlier?

anyway, this one might count as an arrangement? Cause I mean, I changed bits and whole parts of a section to make up for the fact that the piece was written for way more instruments than a piano? And while the whole point of doing the Undertale tracks was to essentially do quick, dirty, basic piano transcriptions/covers, I consciously spent way more time learning this one and getting it up to speed and wanting to play it super-well despite how stupid it was to attempt to play parts of it like how I did? (You’ll see what I mean if you look at the sheet music)

BUT YEAH. I’m still not super-happy with how it sounds but I think it’s post-worthy at this point. So hope y’all enjoy, and I’ll see about the sheet music….when I next have time, anyway.

editing/taking voices out for the sake of playability always kind of sucks, but can be necessary

this one is surprisingly fun to play, I could probably do a version that wasn’t so constrained to the original’s rhythm, maybe flesh out the chords some more so they don’t sound strange in spots, I think I got a few notes wrong in that middle bit too, oh well

so when I got to this track on the ost, I was like, I can’t just apply phasing and whatnot to a piano to make it “-wave” genre, so instead I was like what if I just did a really low-effort transformation into what my uninformed knowledge of ragtime says is ragtime

ironically enough, this one was easier to pick up than thundersnail, since thundersnail is one massive sixteenth note run and this one….isn’t; so anyway that’s why this was done first and thundersnail will be later

I thought this track would’ve looped around to the beginning and faded, too, but it turns out it doesn’t, how about that

Undertale - Respite (piano cover)

I know it's been a while, but hey, I really enjoyed Night In The Woods and went fuckit, I'm gonna do a Song Cover. Never done one of those before, so I just stuck to a sort of generic cover that didn't change much from the original, and then I added piano cause why not. Sort of turned it into a pop-rock sort of feel, I guess? And then singing cause yeah. So, hope you like it.

Sure let's post a mashup at midnight, that sounds like a great idea

Anyway I'm doing a production of American Idiot right now and it made me want to try mashing up a Green Day song with something, then Heart-Shaped Box came to mind and it actually worked out really well? I'd say this mashup's more a proof of concept than anything else though, it really feels like there should be something else thrown in to add to the angst/fill some space but I can't think of what.

and I said I wouldn't send it to the cast because I don't want to screw up them learning Boulevard of Broken Dreams, but I'm probably gonna send it to them anyway

not really a very hard piano cover to do, but just. such a haunting ending to the whole thing that there’s no way I can’t skip ahead and do this one now. this one’s going to stick with me. it helps that laura shigihara, the singer/arranger, does an absolutely beautiful job with the singing and piano that I’m not sure I can even do it justice with this, haaaa.
