Day 7 Prompt: Last Cigarette

we don't know when will
our last anything be now
our last meal, last kiss, last cigarette
some of these endings are good
and some will break our hearts
yet at our own ends
when we breathe our last 

when will i see my last sunrise
or sunset of the same
will this be the last i see your eyes
looking at me
is this the final one
will it be my swan song

that day come

Give me a sign

When I was in France with just a guitar I had tentatively planned to get back home and write and record a song with 'as many instruments as i could' instead of the guitar+midi controller approach. This was the one, I guess.


It takes a lot to make me mad
But at ends of days where nothing goes as planned
I know in my heart that this is not my soul

I hate my heart when it gets hot
And even though it takes a lot
To boil up and speak my mind
I curse my curses every time

So here we are all born and breathing
And I just can’t help but dreaming
Of being better, being good enough for you

If I could build us wooden hearts
Fit together like two parts
Of a whole, a perfect space for me to fill your soul

Because all the ones I’ve seen so far
That wouldn’t, couldn’t, shouldn’t start
To love like we know that we should love
Maybe our head had something after all
To let our heart begin to fall
Then look down knowing patient from above

If I could make a wooden boat
Sink or swim, I swear it’d float
And we could put you on the bridge
And sail into the nothingness

Song a Week 2023 Week 50 - Wooden Hearts

This incredibly exciting track was born from collaboration with my dear friend Kyle Walz. I'm still in the state of awe with the final product. He magically transformed an 8 bar piano progression into this track full of energy and excitement. Thank you, Kyle. I'm looking forward to more collaborations in the near future. I wanna learn as much as I can from you. Particularly, the amazing box you make musical magic with. I wanna learn more of that, jaja!

Part 1 - Interstellar Journey

This is brand new, so I’ll be editing it for awhile.  I’m also playing around with a version in 3/4 time.  Happy I had the time to do this take to share with Song A Week!

We had nothing to lose cause we didn’t know what we had
And riding by the lake wasn’t so bad
It’s a good thing we didn’t know what was to come
Cause we would have missed out on all the fun

Well I can’t go back and even if I could, my friends are all gone
It was easier to wish on the stars when nothing could go wrong
It’s too much work to start a campfire
I’m searching for the moon tonight

There was a full moon rising over the lake
It was as orange as a tiger, burning bright
It was larger than any cauldron of witch’s brew
And there was nothing in the way of the view

Well I can’t go back and even if I could, my friends are all gone
It was easier to wish on the stars when nothing could go wrong
It’s too much work to start a campfire
I’m searching for the moon tonight

I look up and see the moon in the sky
It’s stark white and the size of a dime
And I’ve gotta keep moving because there’s just too much to do
Only have a second to take in the view

Song a week 2017

Forgiven

The fifth spirit Of Light and Darkness tells the story of a little pathway over the mountainside whose fertile grounds allowed a beautiful rose to grow. Inadvertently, the pathway couldn't keep up with the flower needs, and so the flower dried up and died. Souls like these might be condemned to grief their way into the hereafter. Unless they let go and move on. Pain is inevitable, suffering, in contrast, is optional.
