Madrid OG Santa delivers a carefully selected mix of electro, minimal and dark-tinged beats.

1. How and where was the mix recorded?

At home (Vallecas, Madrid), using the same turntables I've been playing on for the past 20 years.

2. Can you tell us about the idea behind the mix?

My goal was to take the listener through different sensations within the set—starting with darker moods, moving into groovier territory, and blending those with some melodic tracks. I envisioned a set that could easily be played in a club throughout the night.

3. What are your main influences regarding electronic music and DJing in general?

In the past, I would have answered this question by naming my favorite international or national DJs. However, nowadays, my biggest influences are undoubtedly the people in my closest circle. I'm lucky to be surrounded by amazing artists, DJs, and producers who are constantly releasing incredible tracks or surprising me with hidden gems they’ve discovered while digging. They are a constant source of inspiration for me.

4. Tell us a bit more about the scene in Madrid (Spain) and your project, Ombligo. How are things developing there?

I’ve always found the word "scene" a bit off-putting, but I can say that Madrid is currently full of incredible local talent. Over the past few years, it has been growing steadily, and I have faith that it will continue to do so.

As for Ombligo, we’ve decided to take a break for now, but I hope we’ll have a reunion at some point in the future.

5. What are your next steps? Any upcoming projects or ideas?

Besides working on a couple more podcast episodes, my plan is to keep digging for music and refining my style. On the other hand, I want to continue with music production and keep learning along the way.

Jason Velo - PK Ripper [Deep Clicks]

A track made as a duo in response to a challenge to choose 4 random vinyls and create a track with them. We took a vinyl from the Berlin Philharmonic, one from Michael Jackson, a Blues compilation: Blues Blasters and one from the Pat Metheny Group. WE DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE, SO WE DID IT.
