I NEVER REALLY USED NAPSTER OR FILE-SHARING SERVICES GROWING UP. I GUESS I FOUND MYSELF RELATIVELY PRIVILEGED TO HAVE PARENTS THAT WOULD SHELL OUT A FEW DOLLARS TO HELP ME BUY MUSIC I WANTED TO HEAR. THAT BEING SAID, I THINK MY MUSICAL BOUNDARIES WOULD HAVE BEEN EXPANDED MUCH EARLIER IF I WAS ADVENTUROUS ENOUGH TO EXPLORE THE INFINITE HALLS OF LOW BITRATE MP3’s AT A YOUNG AGE. THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT THAT LOW QUALITY “FLOATY-NESS” THAT LOSSY COMPRESSION HAS THAT MAKES ME INFINITELY NOSTALGIC FOR A METHOD OF LISTENING AND EXPLORING NEW MUSIC THAT I NEVER EVEN GOT TO EXPERIENCE.

“SINISTER” IS WHAT I IMAGINE 10 YEAR OLD ME WOULD HAVE REMEMBERED FINDING ONLINE IF I HAD DOWNLOADED NAPSTER. VAGUELY TRANCE, EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE, AND WAY TOO CRUNCHY AS TO HAVE BEEN PASSED FROM COMPUTER TO COMPUTER AND RECOMPRESSED A THOUSAND TIMES. 

TO ACHIEVE THIS EFFECT, I’VE RENDERED THE LEAD OUT AT MANY DIFFERENT STAGES OF LOSSY COMPRESSION AND LAYERED THEM ALL BACK IN AT DIFFERENT VOLUMES, SOMETHING I ECHO THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE EP. I FIGURE, AS LONG AS YOU CAN HEAR THE BASS LINE, WHO LISTENS TO THE LEAD ANYWAY?

Hurting On Purpose (feat. K.Flay)

Eric McGauley, also known as Eros, is an American electronic music artist based out of Orlando Florida.
Eros began writing and producing electronic music as a teen, immediately followed by releases on multiple Florida based labels (Psylon, PK, Tweak, MAFDAP), including his own eventual D’funkt records. In the 90s, Eros had his first taste of success with two songs being played in regular rotation (Anthem and Roller Skates) on a national radio station. This got the attention of multiple record scouts from 'Tommy Boy' and 'Robins Ent', resulting the release of 'Whats that Sound'. During this time, Eric played frequently across the country at early popular EDM events such as Zen Festival in CA, Ultra Music Festival in Miami and many other events and venues throughout the country. 
Eros currently has 6 full length albums, 15 vinyl releases and is featured on compilations such as Koch’s 'Beatles Re-grooved' series. Eric has recently branched out and begun licensing music to film, television and web based media. His music has been licensed by major brands such as 'Quicksilver, 'Burton Snowboards', 'Patagonia', 'Roxy clothing', 'DC' shoes, 'NBC’s' hit show 'Smash' and the major motion picture 'Bachelorette', with Kirsten Dunst. Along with recent underground tracks being released on Caffeine, Icey's Zone, Baby Anne's Bad Baby label and DJ Magic Mike's EA records, new material is on the way!
