Following the release of her 2018 solo tape, Ggggg (Anticausal Systems), vocalist Charmaine Lee returns with her debut LP, KNVF, for Erratum Musical (Paris, France). In just two years, the album marks a considerable evolution from the austere concentration of Ggggg towards expansive sonic worlds. Inspired by the arcs of popular music, Charmaine freely and fearlessly navigates a wide range of aesthetics, digging beneath each surface to disclose a highly personal sense of musicality. Microphones of varying fidelities, contact mics placed on the throat, and amplified hair combs are used to simulate polyphony and a dialogue between the inner and outer body. With Charmaine’s unique vocal articulations atop a bed of feedback and extreme frequencies, form follows expression in an ever-evolving context built on the traditions of noise, vocal, and improvised music. KNVF is a powerful statement in modern vocal music and a thrilling new development in Charmaine‘s artistry that will reward those who listen for the journey.

Charmaine Lee (b. 1991) is a New York-based vocalist from Sydney, Australia. Her music is predominantly improvised, favoring a uniquely personal approach to vocal expression concerned with spontaneity, playfulness, and risk-taking. Beyond extended vocal technique, Charmaine uses amplification, feedback, and microphones to augment and distort the voice. She has performed with leading improvisers Nate Wooley, id m theft able, C. Spencer Yeh, and Ikue Mori, and maintains ongoing collaborations with Conrad Tao, Victoria Shen, Zach Rowden, and Eric Wubbels. Charmaine has performed at ISSUE Project Room, the Kitchen, Roulette, The Poetry Project, and MoMA PS1, and participated in festivals including Resonant Bodies, Huddersfield Contemporary, and Ende Tymes. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions including The Moon Represents My Heart: Music, Memory and Belonging at the Museum of Chinese in America (2019). As a composer, Charmaine has been commissioned by the Wet Ink Ensemble (2018) and Spektral Quartet (2018). In 2019, she was an Artist-in-Residence at ISSUE Project Room and is currently a 2021 Van Lier Fellow at Roulette. Charmaine is a member of the Editorial Board of Sound American.

ETANT DONNÉS is a duet by Eric and Marc Hurtado created in Grenoble in 1980. From this French town, it rapidly became international, especially in Europe.
Born in 1959 and 1962 respectively, in Rabat, Morocco, the two brothers have chosen both orality and writing, with a clear, semantic word, yet without the burden of grammar.
Through them, it is the volume of each word that becomes an object-sculpture, together with the power of their bodies expressing their voices.
Each event is the scream - indeed even the glissando - of the strength of the word that sometimes abruptly becomes a rock, a solid surface, not in the least fluvial, as is the narrative of a tale, novel or poetic epic.
With both of them, no more trace of ancient prosodies, no more trace the incomprehensible Sainte-Beuve who could claim: "I have to collect a volume of prose".
The word, the voice, the volume take shape with each other, unveiling a theatre that theatre usually ignores, which has given it such things as a Samuel Beckett's Fin de Partie.
Moreover listening to Aurore, our two actors' CD, undoubtedly owing to the influence of the Mediterranean cradle, single umbilical cord of two great religions, the influence of both Latin and Arab worlds - Gaelic short and long sounds can sometimes be perceived - since their dictions are such a synthesis of several origins.
Nothing is left here of the schools of a Charles Dullin, so dear to the Comédie Française. On the contrary, ETANT DONNÉS is a corporal and semantic circus, yet without semantics.
With their oral and combinative strengths, Eric and Marc give us the action of theatre, from which dictions and descriptive declamations disappear. I could write to them in early December 1994: "[...] in the power of voices and semantics, as well as in the severe body/mind combination, inseparable from each other, I find in Aurore a song of the bodies, indispensable to any sound values. "
In addition to their violences, their sensuous delicacies often in these word cutouts, their nakedness and lights -indeed even made up - come accounts of naked men who need neither conventional costumes nor the devices of traditional stages any more.
What I felt on listening to Aurore was confirmed by Patrick Bossati in May 1992, in this excerpt:
"Be it poetry, cinema, sound, stage, everything the two of them do is done with a kind of rage that leaves you stunned. Their sound, for example, extensive, grave and apocalyptic, mixed from amplified natural elements, make those who listen dumbfounded. Their art is staggering in every respect, in the 16th century sense of the French word 'sidérant', when it meant: 'influenced by the stars'. Their music is a radioscopy of the chaos of the universe and of matter."
This duet, I insist, took form in 1980. It is part of the ineluctable (re)birth of oralities - exorcists - both re-discovered and discovered in the electronic worlds. Together with the passion of travels, where Etant Donnés is "staggering in every respect".
Any true sound poetry is shattering, the really oral one is there in space, with the plus of the media machines, of the voices that slip through them, overwhelming them with the splendour of the bodies.

ETANT DONNÉS est un duo de Eric et Marc Hurtado créé à Grenoble en 1980. De cette ville française, il devient rapidement international, particulierèment en Europe.
Nés respectivement en 1959 et 1962 à Rabat au Maroc, ces deux frères ont choisi et l'oralité et l'écriture, avec un verbe clair, sémantique, mais sans les poids d'une grammaire.
C'est avec eux le volume de chaque mot qui devient une sculpture-objet accompagnée de la puissance de leurs corps exprimant leurs voix.
Chaque intervention est le cri - voire le glissando - de la force du mot qui, abrupte, devient parfois un roc, une surface solide, nullement fluviale comme l'est l'histoire d'un récit, d'un roman, d'une épopée poétique.
Avec eux deux, plus de trace des prosodies anciennes, plus de trace de l'incompréhensible Sainte-Beuve qui pouvait affirmer :
"Je dois recueillir un volume de prose".
Le mot, la voix, le volume font corps, et nous font découvrir un théâtre que le théâtre d'habitude ignore, ce qui lui donna une Fin de partie d'un Samuel Beckett.
A l'écoute de Aurore, CD de nos deux acteurs, il y a de plus, sans doute l'influence du berceau méditerranéen, à la fois cordon ombilical de deux grandes religions, l'influence des mondes latins et arabes - parfois des brèves et longues gaëliques - tant leurs dictions sont une synthèse de plusieurs origines.
Nous ne sommes plus du tout dans les écoles d'un Charles Dullin, chères à la comédie française.
Au contraire, ETANT DONNÉS est un cirque corporel et sémantique, mais sans sémantique.
Avec leurs puissances orales et combinatoires, Eric et Marc nous donnent l'action du théâtre, où dictions et déclamations descriptives disparaissent. J'avais pu leur écrire, début décembre 1994: "[..] dans le pouvoir des voix et de la sémantique, aussi dans la sévère alliance corps/esprit inséparables, je trouve dans Aurore un chant des corps, indispensable à toutes valeurs sonores. "
S'ajoutent à leurs violences, a leur finesse sensuelle souvent dans ces découpes des mots, à leur nudité ou leurs lumières- voire grimées - les prises en compte d'hommes nus qui n'ont plus besoin des costumes conventionnels, des artifices des scènes traditionnelles.
Ce que j'ai ressenti à l'écoute d'Aurore se voit confirmé par Patrick Bossati, en mai 1992, dans cet extrait :
"Poésie, cinéma, son, scène, ces deux-là font tout avec une espèce de rage qui laisse pantois.
Leur son, par exemple, ample, grave et apocalyptique, composé à partir d'éléments naturels amplifiés, frappe de stupeur celui qui écoute. Leur art est en tout point sidérant, au sens du XVle siècle où ce mot signifiait: 'influencé par les astres'. Leur musique est une radioscopie du chaos de l'univers et de la matière. "
Ce duo, je le répète, prit naissance en 1980. Il s'inscrit dans la (re)naissanee inéluctable des oralités -exorcistes- à la fois re-découvertes et découvertes dans les mondes électroniques. Avec la passion des voyages où ETANT DONNÉS est "en tout point sidérant". Toute vraie poésie sonore sidère, la réellement orale est là dans l' espace, avec le plus des machines médiatiques, des voix qui se coulent en elles, les dominent de la splendeur des corps.

Vit et travaille à Paris, écrivain, plasticien, performer, vidéaste. L’écriture structure l’ensemble de ses pièces, dans une responsabilité de soi au monde. Le travail de Frédéric Dumond est justement d'intervenir dans certains des champs de la représentation, pour en dissoudre l'unité. Il reconstruit, à partir de fragments prélevés, des ensembles, agglomérats plutôt qu'organismes, toujours traversés de discontinuités, d'énoncés qui par leur succession préservent la précarité du sens qu'ils portent. Utilisant les fragments prélevés comme des médiateurs, il propose des ensembles signifiants, constitués de segments, de sauts, où chaque fragment est un point d'émergence d'une piste de sens, qui interdit toute appropriation, toute récupération. Il travaille les distances entre les différents objets, en mettant en rela- tion des fragments auparavant asservis à des formes. Une réappropriation/détournement qui multiplie les parcours transversaux, et instaure une suite de processus. Dans ses performances, videos, pièces sonores, installations, il propose des configurations variables, ou en variation, des séquences d'instabilité en lieu et place d'une totalité unifiée, fictionnelle. En prise avec des perceptions simultanées d'innombrables évènements en interaction les uns avec les autres, il articule l'ensemble de ses pièces autour d'une écriture fragmentaire, qui incite chacun des récepteurs à multiplier les parcours transversaux, où la logique d'engendrement du sens procède par bonds, sauts, va-et-vients, où le sens de chaque fragment dépend à la fois de son unité et de l'examen des fragments alentours. Il règle ainsi des pièces composites, qui se maintiennent en permanence dans un état critique, et trouvent leur stabilité dans la tension entre chacun des éléments qui les constituent. Il y a une unité souterraine, jamais expri- mée, qui préside à la présence ensemble de chacun des fragments. Pas de fin, pas de commencement, chaque fragment les contient. Pour autant, le sens ne découle pas d'une dialectique tout/partie, mais des potentiels d'auto-organisation induits par les logiques structurelles de ses ensembles.

This record consists of raw, furious, long and immersive pieces, with the sole purpose of immersing the listener in an emotional and physical experience. Improvised pieces are made up of saturated, dense, fluid and stretched sonic guitar outbursts pushed to the extreme. Between psychedelic harsh noise, cathartic drones and abrasive sound mantras.

« Peintre oral et tailleur de mots », Michel Giroud aka Gerwulf El Coyote est depuis les années 1970 un personnage majeur de la poésie-action. Son oeuvre prend la forme éclatée de livres, de lectures, d’actions, d’interventions, de rencontres, de cercles et de revues. Il réalise ainsi un vieux projet qu’il nomme en 1990 Patata (patatologie) ou PTT (Poésie totalement totale) où l’ensemble de ces activités s’articule dans une sphère en mouvement permanent. En 1991, il fonde la Nomadique Université et en mai 1997 le festival Mille voix, 1000 voies et l’encyclopedia de l’Eternal Network. 
Ecrivain d’essais, pneumaticien, peintre oral, coureur de vitesse de fond, tailleur de mots, il apparaît sous la forme d’El Coyote et de loup-garou comme chanteur archaïque du chant-cri. Gerwulf, fondateur et gardien de l’Imperium Angelicum Magnificum (IAM) est l’ancêtre carolingien du Dauphinois Michel Giroud, historien et théoricien des avant gardes, auteur d’essais sur Audiberti, Nougaro, Vostell, Hausmann, Gette, Filliou. En parallèle de son travail d’artiste et de performer, Michel Giroud est éditeur, il a fondé les collections L’oeil Absolu au Chêne, Projectoires à Champ Libre, Trajectoires chez Jean-Michel Place et la collection L’Ecart absolu aux Presses du Réel qu’il dirige depuis 1998.

Eduard Escoffet is a Catalan sound poet. Born in Barcelona, for more than 20 years he has been touring all over Europe and America in poetry and experimental music festivals performing his delicate yet precise and sensual poetry actions layered with repetitive patterns rooted both in techno culture and classic sound poetry. He has also organised different poetry festivals from the 1990s (PROPOSTA, Barcelona Poesia, ReVox and Poesia i +, among others).
Bastida is his first solo LP. Recorded mostly during 2021, it includes vocal experiments and improvisations shaping a language landscape where voice and body meet sound poetry through the mouth, all inspired by some of his masters: Demetrio Stratos, Carles Santos, bp nichol, Joan La Barbara and Bernard Heidsieck

This LP brings out humorous linguistic permutations into sound through sonic compositions and minimal vocal repetitive works.

In 2021, Wilfried Wendling offered a 3-day residency to Marion Camy-Palou at the Muse en Circuit (Alfortville / Paris), a working time which then has evolved into a 2-year cruise dedicated to the Serge Modular System (offered by Jean Claude Eloy at the Muse). This search finally resulted in a concert in April 2023, and this record - Deeat Palace's debut album.
'Pièces pour Serge' offers two intense pieces, cut in 45 rpm for vinyl to allow a deeper sonic dive into the heart of the bowels of a synthesizer that has become legendary and which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023.
note : a series of albums produced with the 'Serge Modular Music System#1' (first Serge synth modules built at Cal Arts in 1973 by Will Jackson under the direction of Serge Tcherepnin and now restored and in use in Annecy/Fr at C.A.R.E.) will be published later.

This 70min organ concert was recorded in 2012 in Strasbourg Cathedral during the «Transes» symposium at HEAR. This was a unique performance in the cathedral’s history and an important performance for Charlemagne Palestine, showing him at his best, slowly developing a wild crescendo and filling the gigantic space with his own ritual full of trance and ecstasy. 2015 marks the millennium of Strasbourg Cathedral.
