And here it is! My magnum opus and probably the most effort I have and will ever put in an Undertale track: "Time Capsule", Gaster's Pacifist theme!

The old Geno Gaster themes and fight are no longer canon. This is their "replacement".

This track took me probably over 50 hours to complete (the actual FL Studio time shows 70+ hours, but I assume a lot of that time was just the project running in the background). I tried my best to make it both chaotic, but also organized. To make it spooky, but also heroic. The track uses some leitmotifs here and there, but the majority of them are original.

📌Context for the battle:
As explained in the intro track - you meet Gaster while returning back to the barrier on the Pacifist route. You encounter the gray door in Waterfall and, if you choose to enter it, the door will disappear and you'll be locked inside. There's no way to interact with anything and the only thing to do is to use your cell phone, which results in Gaster appearing in the room.

Gaster then asks you to take a seat (as a shadowy chair suddenly appeared behind you) and proceeds to tell you a tale. The tale is about a human who fell into the Underground, killed some monsters, spared some monsters, saved everyone, murdered everyone... And then, as if nothing happened, they just reset everything and started all over. The human toyed with Monsters and their lives as if they were simple characters in their play. Until one day, they stumbled upon a "hero", who was able to finally stop them and teach them a lesson. That human was, of course, us, the player. And the "hero" is Gaster.

That's why Gaster fights us. The Void exists outside the Underground and is thus unaffected by Resets or Loads. He exists beyond Time and Space, shattered between them. Gaster knows everything we did and all routes we took. That is why you can only fight him if you've completed other routes before this one and then reset. We cannot damage him, as his body is not physical. He's almost like a ghost, in a way. That's why the only way to win the battle is by waiting until he uses all of his available energy. You cannot spare him either.

During the battle, Gaster will act a bit like a mad scientist, which is my personal headcanon based on the little information we have about him (mostly the crazy eyes and face when interacting with him). Thus, some attacks will be a bit chaotic and random. Like a running fridge with teeth, a reference to the popular funny haha phone-joke. The telephones also play a big role during the battle. Oh yeah... speaking of which.

Some of you might be wondering why I even make the connection between Gaster and a phone. That's a great question! You see, the file called "mus_smile" plays during Gaster's Entry Number 17. In Deltarune, when you use your cell phone in certain locations, the same sound effect plays. Obviously, that doesn't necessarily mean anything, but with the limited information we have about Gaster, I thought that this could be a nice little idea. I also think that an old telephone fits perfectly for Gaster's design and "personality".
