The ICR Reissues

The collision of different worlds and infuences is obvious in Cold Europe, where sound sources ranging from foley recording of old toys to analog and digital synths, drum machines and modular systems and a mix of elements from different genres such as dubstep, grime, IDM and Industrial are layered to create a dark sonic recollection of cold war years.

In Could Europe, intricate and broken rhythmic parts are always the leading elements while melodic parts are somehow subdued, still betraying a meticulous and sophisticated sound design as can be noted in Warsaw, where two bass lines and a synth line are alternating on a relentless rhythm, or in Detente which manages to feel both ethereal and heavy at the same time while the rhythm keeps shifting. In Panchsheel granular textures are the background to syncopated rhythms and 'sliced and diced' percussions, while Palm Tree is dominated by a hypnotic melodic line played by a continuously evolving percussive sound. Peculiar elements could be fnd also in Inside The Ghost, that hides subtle melodies on a minimalistic, deconstructed rhythmic session and in Inverness, which wears its techno infuences on its sleeve while tension and release are played on a straight hard-hitting kick.

Cold Europe

Erstav returns once again with his signature analog, modular production. The result is raw and unrelenting energy in the context of Dubstep style beats, but also drawing heavily on acid techno influences. This is the perfect fusion of styles, a pure metamorphosis, transmuting old school Moog to modern and simultaneously making a unique statement in the music.

The vibes are high on this one, perfect for the summer days on the river, beach or wherever else you find yourself enjoying the sun. Erstav is stepping things up, with his past few singles going deeper darker and with more acid and techno influences, this time he brings out uplifting elements and allows his his signature analog, modular production to fully flourish into an epic good vibe, mood holder of a tune.
