Raving is community, solidarity, contact. A club can be a safer space, especially for People of Color, Black people and LGBTQ+ people. How do the communities bridge the pandemic void? What mechanisms of social exclusion exist even in the music scene and club culture? And what role does gentrification play? In the first episode of the Politics of the Dance Floor podcast, Erkan Affan speaks with Yuko Asanuma, Lakuti and Jay Jay Revlon about solidarity. They discuss participation, the advantages and disadvantages of online DJ sets and why it’s always work to show solidarity with others.

Politics of the Dance Floor: Solidarity

Really happy to introduce the first female DJ Erzsébet in our podcast series ‚Bassword’. Erzsébet supported us right from the beginning with her unique sound. She puts a lot of heart and effort into her music and sets, which we were able to witness live on the first ‚Electronic Brunch‘. Starting out with playing music in 2018 she already has had gigs at „Kabinett der Kuriositäten“ and Silbergold.

Her musical style is not easily put into one single genre, ranging from disco and old school house influences to darker and deeper sounds. Her self-described happy place in music is the place where the gloomy and the cheesy come together. Right now she is working on producing her own music and already released a Remix called „DNS - Orange Island (Erzsébet's Orange Realness Dance Mix)“. We are more than happy to have her play a special mix for us. Buckle up for a journey. It has it all : deep sounds, trance melodies, cosmic chords embedded in electronic euphoria.
