Injazero is a forward-thinking boutique label straddling Instanbul and London via the impeccable mind of Siné Buyuka. And I’m not just saying that because she also released my album. The diverse and boundary-pushing output of the imprint includes music by Matt Emery, C. Diab, Heinali, KMRU, Hinako Omori, and most recently a collaboration between Tegh & Adel Poursamadi. So I’m always tuned into what Injazero is up to. And this time, I am more than pleased with their latest! Halina Rice is a London-based electronic musician and AV artist, with a debut, titled REDUX released back in 2017. It may have just slipped passed my ears, but it only takes one listen for them to prick up! This is modern electronic music at its finest. Deep rolling bass, sharp synthy stabs, and incredible atmospherics make up this cinematic journey into a mind expressed through ELISION – a fusion of the abstract and real worlds, combining synthetic with organic in music, art, and technology. “The idea is to evoke places that don’t exist – like a surreal parallel world,” says Rice about her sophomore release. “Fracture” is one of my favourite pieces, which is why I selected to premiere it for you here today – it encompasses the fragmentation of reality through jittery and elastic elements, which seem to come in like waves, to unsettle and heal. Further on the album, Rice explores sound through a range of styles, anywhere from experimental IDM to dancefloor hitters, with a nod to artists such as Rival Consoles, Max Cooper, and Jon Hopkins. And if any of these names tickle your fancy, you’ll be in love with Halina Rice.

Circassian-Turkish Producer Sine Buyuka debuts new solo project Sinemis with lush, graceful album ‘Dua’, gently combining the ancestral Sufi music of her homeland with sophisticated techno-inflected ambient.

Gazel is the first single taken off the album. "Most of the Dua album is created with organic sources of audio and acoustic instruments, lots of creative audio editing and soft synths. However, Gazel is the only track that has a vintage analogue modular analogue synth at its core, a Roland System 100m. I started improvising without a plan and recorded bits and pieces for fun. A couple of months later, after my surgery when I was homebound, I felt like visiting those recordings and decided to use one as a basis of a new track. It was a recording done in a single take, later adorned with ney recordings, vocal chops, and ambient soundscapes. I wanted to see how I could integrate two instruments belonging to two different musical cultures to create something new and perhaps a bit mystical, marrying different musical traditions. The name Gazel, which refers to an age-old improvised singing form that is sometimes accompanied by the ney (or ud or tanbur) in Turkish music is also a nod to the production process – my voice being my synth."

‘Dua’ was also mixed and mastered in Dolby Atmos (available on Apple Music, Tidal and Amazon) to capture the immersive experience of Sufi music.

But, remarkably, scientists at the Technical University of Denmark have taken magnetic signals measured by ESA’s Swarm satellite mission and converted them into sound – and for something that protects us, the result is pretty scary.

AUTOVIA Remixed is a thoughtfully curated offering of contemporary classical productions boasting collaborations with a diverse and talented array of producers such as The Orb, Eraldo Bernocchi, DF Tram, Roger Goula, Ryan Crosson and Dan Michaelson.

Violeta Vicci… a multifaceted, contemporary artist and musician of Catalan – Swiss descent, based in London. Since starting the violin at the age of four, and giving her concert debut aged fifteen, she pursued studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London and went on to collaborate with an eclectic array of artists such as Thom Yorke, Elbow, Clint Mansell, Jonsi (Sigur Rós) and Steeleye Span amongst others. Her debut album AUTOVIA, produced by Youth (aka Martin Glover) on Painted Word Records, is an album of exclusively self-penned compositions, bridging the gap between the acoustic and electronic worlds.

Flow (2018) by Swiss-based contemporary dance Compagnie Linga is inspired by the astonishing performance of animal’s group movements, such as shoals of fish, flocks of birds or swarms of insects. These flexible and fluid formations, capable of instantaneously modifying their speed and direction without losing space coherence, question the laws of interactions that act the different members of a group and the coordination of their movements.

Invited by Compagnie Linga to compose a musical score and perform it live, KEDA created a mesmerizing soundtrack, in which E’Joung-Ju stirs up lively rhythms and melodic fragments of the Korean geomungo, like an electric bass, which Mathias Delplanque alienates in ambient and noise collages, ensuring a hypnotic pull.

Dedicated to the life and work of Robert Lax (1915-2000), the American poet who lived on Patmos, Greece, as a self-exiled hermit since the sixties. Jack Kerouac called Lax “one of the great original voices of our times, a Pilgrim in search of beautiful innocence”. The Chi Factory would like to give special thanks to his good Patmian friends Ulf Knaus and Nikos Eliou, who showed us his house on Patmos (everything is still the same since he left) and also his favourite old wooden door (see leaflet). His great minimalistic poetry became a source of inspiration for the Mantra Recordings. His life on Patmos was far away from public attention - quiet and always surrounded by the skies, seas, cats and birds. Lax was a real dreamcatcher.

Our next release is coming closer ! 
We know that music might not be a crucial stake nowadays, and promoting new material might seem inappropriate, regarding the global breakdown we're going through. Yet, we truly believe in the soothing virtues of the record we are about to release. This forthcoming LP is a soulful work stemming from the generous mind of Guido Camino, under the name Forest On Stasys. He is inspired by the spiritual aspects of tribal rites and the physical effects of soundscapes. 

In a few seconds, the introduction takes you from the anonymous murmuring of a standard concourse hall to the distant source of a primitive silence : surrounded by voices, footsteps and public announcements, you fall in a crack and immediately find an inner balance. Soon you're drowning in a vast melancholy, lulled by roaring pads and crackling chirps, rubbing notes and delayed artifacts. 
Guido Camino's expressive style makes Forest On Stasys a meaningful name : this album is significantly built like an immersion into the rival forces of a wild realm where the tension between growth and gravity finds its resolution in the reunion of light and shadow. All along the tracks, obscure volumes with glistening edges remind of daylight spawning through the trunks. 
Immersed in these mighty bass pads outlined by distorted howls, you're caught in a massive grid of organic forces. This ride will make you throb like an ancestral tree, stirred by radiant whirlwinds, amazed by the translucent oscillations of life cycles. 
At some point of the journey, you will board for some astral explorations, as the synth waves become epic and sound like memories of an ancient space travel. 
The last part of the record takes a vividly melodic direction, with floating arpeggios and sparkling chords, inviting you to land in a safe part of your soul, calm and relieved.
