One week in June 2020 a flash of inspiration led me to compose a setting for baritone and harp of George Herbert's poem "Life" (1633).  The poem originally struck me as building a profound case for accepting the limitations that life places on what we may contribute and for mindfully enjoying such achievement as is within our reach.

In the early 1980s, Professor Katherine Rohrer encouraged me to do a recital.  This is my belated and virtual recital.

I write mostly sacred classical music. Several works of music  and poetry published in the 1600s seem to have grabbed my attention, particularly the poetry of George Herbert and music of Dominico Mazzocchi.
