Piece I made for Freesound Dare-27

The dare was to find 2 random samples that you find nice and create a musical composition with them.

I used the following samples:

I loaded the samples in Flstudios sampler and recorded everything live... using my GEM MK300-M organ as a midi controller... :)
I added some reverb, delay, distorsion, compressor, a phaser and finaly a limiter to the master channel.
Had a blast with this again... I like Freesound Dares!! :)

I didnt have a nice motivation to make something this time... you could even say I was driven with anger!
Im fed up with everything I see around me!!! All these people around the world killing each other because of their believes or their color... 
I CANT TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!! IT NEEDS TO STOP NOW!!
The text I used in my song is from a speach from Haile Selassie he made in 1963 for the UN congres...
THATS MORE THAN 50 YEARS AGO!!! NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!!!
Dont you feel ashamed when you realise this???
All the effort thats going in killing and war... why dont we use it to make life better for all???
We are all world citicens... its time for us all to unite...
We can communicate around the world now in a split second... internet television and telephone took down most boundries.
I even have friends from all over the world thanx to internet...
Why cant we all live in peace? Live and let live??
We are all the same... please people of the world... we need to grow beyond this!!
We need to unite... and start to work as a world nation.
Stand up to your leaders and demand them to make the change! It is time for civilisation 2.0!!

A friend let me use his Yamaha CS2x that has a very nice preset called Emerson... 
I started playing and everything came together... the synth just started to talk back to me...

This dare was already running for a while and I didnt expect to find a parter anymore... then the little raven showed up. :)
I was very busy at work.. and didnt have a lot of inspiration... but the first samples she send me were amazing!
I just couldnt resist to ad a nice beat... and before you know things started flowing. :)
There is some kind of magical quality to some of these samples... 
So I ended the spell with the help of Timbres Magic wand.

This is her side of the story...

Actually it had been quite a while since I'd played my keyboard or done any music making. I just hadn't had much inspiration,  but this freesound Dare intrigued me. 'The language of music'
To collaborate with someone and create a musical piece. . . But without communicating about the process.... to let the music do the talking.
How to start? Once we agreed to work together I created a bass line and sent it to Escortmarius, who sent it back with some great percussion.

From there the whole thing seemed to flow together really smoothly, we sent samples, snippets and arrangements backwards and forwards. It was strange to work this way, with no expectations and no idea what would develop each time, but quite exciting. My inspiration returned, aided by this feeling of liberation.... There were no rules - except the no communication! 

The track turned out to be quite dark and mysterious. I like it! Escortmarius worked hard on the final arrangement and I especially enjoy the finishing touches on the ending which really give it character.
This was a lot of fun, thank you to my collab partner and many thanks to freesound (an amazing source of inspiration and resources) and AlienXXX who thought of this unique challenge.

Breaking the spell

Collaboration work, made for the first freesound collaboration dare.
All sounds are synthesised special for this dare. Made this together with my mate Cajo.
Escortmarius likes party music, Cajo propose it so we started happily. Cajo offered for bass and melody, Escortmarius
started with 4 notes, C E B D, some synth voices rap and ritme. Then Cajo stopped because of midi and luddism troubles -
Escormartius was playing with fun while patiently waiting for something from his partner. Almost a whole month slipped ticking;
then from a bunch of old cables and dusty kbrds Cajo recovered 4+4 chords and some goofy out of time solo notes:
EscortMarius was dreaming of jumping in the snow, he took those slippery sounds and added ritme and fun words and bass and
fx and all his pleasure. Here's the soundscape of an Expedition to Synthopia, real diary of a distant collaboration.

Hello everyone, 

Please read my description before listening to my entrie!!!

Its saturday 4 januari 1997 around 11:45 in the morning.
There are strong winds today and the "feeling" temperature is almost -26deg Celsius.
Its the day of the 15e "Elfstedentocht" (elevencitytour),a traditional ice skating event held in the Netherlands. 
This morning around 5:30, 16738 ice skating contenders started this traditional ice-race across Friesland.
We are following Gaatze Rypkema a 28 year old guy born in Olderbekeap.
Skating the Elfstedentocht has been a life long dream for Gaatze, 
last time the event was possible was in 1985, but then Gaatse was still to young and could not compete.
His grandfather and father did, both finishing the trip and earning "the silver-cross"
Now it was Gaatzes turn to prove himself on the 199km long competition and earn his cross.
We are joining him just before he passes Bartlehiem, A small but enthusiastic village thats on the route about 37km before the finish.................
