A narrativa de "NEGROS FAZENDO ROCK" não tem como ponto de partida a origem do gênero, mas o impacto dele ao longo das gerações. De Rosetta Tharpe, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Prince, Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz. Todos e muitos outros contribuíram para o gênero.
