Eine lange Nacht mit vielen Ereignissen ist endlich zu Ende. Nach dem Vorfall mit dem erschöpften Mann verlief die Schicht ohne weitere Vorkommnisse.  Gerade läuft der obligatorische Closing Track vom Raverend aus und die Menge bereitet sich schon darauf vor die heiligen Hallen zu verlassen. Zügig und geordnet werden die Gäste von den ComRa Mitarbeitern zum Ausgang geleitet und der riesige Saal ist bald leer. Viele der Leute wirken sehr müde, sie haben mal wieder alles auf der Tanzfläche gegeben. Kaum einer fragt, ob irgendwo noch etwas geht. Die Meisten wollen nach dieser intensiven Nacht einfach nur nach Hause. Auch ich möchte nur noch ins Bett und endlich zur Ruhe kommen. Lighter scheint mir meinen Wunsch anzusehen und schickt mich noch vor Schichtende in den Feierabend. Für meinen ersten Abend habe ich mich gut geschlagen, sagt er mit einem Zwinkern.
Etwas zerknirscht Suche ich meine Sachen und schlendere durch das große Haupttor hinaus. Mein Kopf ist voll mit Gedanken, ja geradezu verstopft. Es scheint so als könnte ich nichts mehr aufnehmen. Keine äußeren Eindrücke dringen wirklich mehr zu mir durch. Voll automatisiert bestreite ich meinen Heimweg und lasse mich erschöpft ins Bett fallen.

There’s no denying the ascent of Raphael Mader over the past 2 years. In spite of the shutdown, his ability to craft a memorable riff and sheer quality of production has seen him rise to become a genuine juggernaut in the melodic techno scene; now, with The Blinding EP, his latest 4 track EP that finds him returning to Renaissance, the convoy shows little signs of slowing.
"I’ve seen a lot of producers highlighting personal influences in their music recently. I guess with the absence of nightclubs everyone’s had to look elsewhere for creative inspiration," explains Raphael, "but even before the fateful pandemic arrived, I was always more introspective in my approach. My music has, and will always be, my personal therapy - it's a direct response to my day-to-day life and the events that transpire around me."

And what a life he must lead because the lens through which Raphael Mader views the world is clearly (pun intended) very beautiful indeed. All 3 original tracks on the EP possess those ethereal, "hairs-on-the-back-your-neck" chills that are so hard to distill; it’s confirmation of a world-class producer, delivering world-class vibes. Whether title track, Blinding, Sail Away or the slightly edgier Fundamental, all more than qualify for the category, "goosebumps".

But the beauty doesn’t end there as the uber-hot Lopezhouse were swift to take on remix honours.
"We really went with our heart on this one," says David and Carlos from their Spanish studio, 
"we used a Fender guitar to blend a re-styled bassline with loads of atmospheric backgrounds and hope you can hear the love and passion that went into it!"

Both of my parents were musicians in a band, so I got in contact with music very early. I started producing at age 16 and came to electronic music at 21- djing was not interesting for me back then. That just came after releasing on renomated labels.

Eat My Hat Music caps off a successful second year with label boss Ziger back in the spotlight for a new single. Following up a strong start to 2020 which included projects for Beatfreak Recordings and Clubsonica Records, Ziger unveiled his ‘Still Here’ single in August. Remixed by Basil O'Glue and Mind Conspiracy, it once again found the Greek artist on top form with a steady rise into the Beatport Progressive House charts. Now as the year winds to a close, Ziger returns to his comfortable home of Eat My Hat with ‘Lunar Taste’ alongside remixes from Kenan Savrun & Weird Sounding Dude. 

In commanding fashion, it is the original mix which gets the release underway. Warm beats, cosmic arps and stunning effects begin the eight-minute journey. Waves of percussion fuel momentum across the first act, as ethereal phrases and haunting overlays segue into the main break. Short but impactful, piercing effects play out across the interlude, building anticipation and tension, before perfectly rising into a hook heavy drop and astral finale.

The first interpretation of ‘Taste’ finds Kenan Savrun returning to the label following his well received ‘Ethereal’ single. Through key releases on 3rd Avenue, Movement Recordings and Strangetown, the Turkish artist has had an incredible year. Now as one of his country’s premiere progressive house talents, Kenan lands back on Eat My Hat with a stunning rendition of ‘Taste’. Over a tough muscular groove, the Ankara resident lays down crunchy rhythms, wispy atmospheres and buzzing electronics. Aimed squarely for a peak time dance floor, tension mounts durning the main break with sprilling arps and striking effects melting down into hazy atmospheres, as rhythmic pulses cue a powerful final movement.  

Rounding out the release with the second and final interpretation of ‘Taste’ is Weird Sound Dude. Serving as his Eat My Hat debut,  the Indian artist got the year underway with a well received remix of MXV’s ‘Einrude’. Subsequent offerings via 3rd Avenue, Deepwibe Underground, Movement Recordings and Stellar Fountain have made for his best year on record. Now following a release for Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Weird Sounding Dude makes a welcome return to Eat My Hat with a stellar take on ‘Lunar Taste’. A perfect balance of warmth and drive provides the foundation for buoyant rhythms, quirky hooks and layers of fluid percussion. Funkier than its predecessors, a smooth transition into the main break relieves tension for moments of reflective warmth, before broken beats and astral aesthetics rise for a pulsating drop and mystical finale. An inspired remix from Weird Sounding Dude which caps off a great release and excellent year for Ziger’s Eat My Hat Music.
