The avant-garde duo European Canon, formed by Uvemaster & DJ Troublesome, are a pivotal yet overlooked act in Spain’s electronic scene. Following their production work with Lil B and Denzel Curry, the Ceuta-born brothers transitioned into electronic music, blending punk elements with forward-thinking electronics through a consistent driving groove, establishing their signature sound.

DDTX004 opens with “Quieres Mirar”, slithering in with the humid breath of a nocturnal encounter. Built around whispered ASMR vocals, warped castañuelas, sub-bass pulses and sighing flanger trails, it channels the sultry tension of the early Modern Love catalogue and the percussion qualities of Night Slugs seen through a rose-tinted lens of digital erotica.

A sunlit curveball that swaps darkness for euphoria, “See U Today” is an ode to Balearic romance and the golden years of 2000s Ibiza. With shimmering organs, sunset breakbeats and a gently elastic bassline, it tells the story of a fleeting beachside affair—both nostalgic and hopeful, with just enough haze to blur the line between memory and fantasy.

The title track “La Pistola” is the EP’s bullet: an industrial, hyper-digital club weapon that oozes menace and dark humor. Vocals are metallic and androgynous, like an AI seductress corrupted by libido. The metaphor behind “la pistola” is delivered with provocative elegance, backed by corrosive acid lines, obliterated 808s, and splashes of noise.

The remix by solla takes the original’s firepower and dissolves it into a fog of modular glitches, dubbed-out percussions, and disembodied fragments. Imagine Bristol if it had been built in a fever dream, where organic textures warp and decay in a slow-motion implosion, hinting at dystopia but never fully surrendering to it.

Vienna-based DJ, producer and label owner Florian Stöffelbauer aka Heap (Vienna, Austria) is the man behind NEUBAU (alongside Bocksrucker, and formally Simon Heidemann), one of the most exciting labels of the last few years, which keeps impressing vinyl enthusiasts since it's birth in 2015.
 As this wasn't enough, he also successfully runs 'Discus Throwers', a well known online record shop, and he co-runs the fantastic YouTube channel “Basic Rhythm” , a mirror of Florian's own tastes.

This year has surely brought changes to many aspects of our lives – and it’s no difference when it comes to the Endless Illusion Mix Series. We found ourselves oversaturated with guest mixes not affording artists the spotlight and care they deserve. This made us come to the conclusion that we should set up a new website giving you some deeper insights into our featured artists outside of the musical realm. Really happy to kick off this new format with renaissance musician, photographer, and scientist Marijana, from Belgrade, with a newfound home in Cologne. Interviewed by Jonáš Verešpej, they discussed Marijana’s mitochondria research, lockdowns, and the destruction of centuries-old Italian artwork.
