Fabio Me Llaman Soltero kicks off 2023 with a release that condenses his sound and gives way to what will be his new stage name "Riveiby" with a more aggressive and raw sound (always with champagne and suntan lotion on the side), native Colombian vocals, lowered percussion, use of Guatemalan and Mexican indigenous instruments, lots of Moog and grey humour. Includes 4 tracks and two remixes by masters Balam from Argentina and Ukrainian Id Ua. An Ep with a special dedication to his trip to Mexico and Colombia in the recently finished 2022.

PREMIERE⚡️Fabio Me Llaman Soltero - Ritmotécnica [Richmerch]

Tears began to flood his eyes and he couldn't catch his breath. He was keeled over, rolling around on the floor in fits of laughter. As soon as he'd calmed himself down just the slightest amount, he was off again in all-engulfing hysterics, the kind that shook your entire body and turned your cheeks a deep shade of red. What had even set him off in the first place? He couldn't actually remember... 'Now that's funny in itself', he thought... And off he went again...

Never one to take a straight-forward approach when it comes to music-making, Berlin-based master of everything Niklas Wandt throws all that good stuff in the mix for his new release on Warning. It's exactly what you would expect from the producer, percussionist, drummer, singer and knob twiddler - it's a mishmash of all the sounds that inspire him; there's robotic vocoder passages, ravey stabs, lush piano chords, squelchy acid lines and dusty breaks a plenty. Alongside the two originals, there's remixes from our good friend Fantastic Twins and another regular RSN collaborator Borusiade, who both put their own flips on Niklas' one of a kind creations.

Ike Yard is an experimental post punk/no wave band founded in 1980 in New York.
They recorded for labels like Disques du Crépuscule and Factory in the early 1980s. Their sound is a crazy mix between early krautrock and dub-influenced post-punk and along the years they increasingly incorporated drum machines and analog electronics.

This is my personal weird dancefloor reinterpretation of the track "Loss" originally released on Factory Records in 1982.

B1 Anatolian Weapons - The Periphery [Premaster Snippet]

Following 2020’s 'Point Vacancies', the debut EP from Jamie Paton and Mike Bourne’s collaborative act Metal, the duo return with a trio of dubwise remixes from Mr Paton himself as well as a peak-time stormer from fellow Bristol artist, Hodge. The latter immediately sets the record ablaze with a driving thump, duo of grainy hi-hats and a chalky clap. He layers an anthemic three-chord pad progression, building octaves, peppering in arpeggiated bleeps and articulate lead melodies, then tops it off with a few modular elements that retain the character of the original, before climaxing in true rave fashion. Proper. The following three mixes by Metal’s own Jamie Paton make apparent his sonic obsession — the type of infinite tweaking that sees some artists/producers to the edge of madness, or at the very least satisfies some dragon-chasing addiction. There’s a successive deconstruction from 'Remix' to 'Dubwise' to 'Dubwise II', most notably a reduction of rhythm and drum machinery, but also in general tonality. The melody remains central but is gradually obscured, taking on a less and less recognizable form, and by the end we’re left with a skeleton of the track, quips and cranks, an assembly line of aluminum sheeting punctuated by demented nuts and bolts. As with the previous EP, the sparsity of elements illustrates just how far one can twist aesthetics, proving that self-imposed limitations can often propel an artist’s process and land them somewhere unfamiliar, somewhere foreign, somewhere enchanted.
