EMC welcomes Joan Gila!

Joan Gila, a vinyl enthusiast, is the curator of @hoc-radio and also manages a small cassette label focused on ambient, avant-garde, and experimental music called @red-edge-label. He is part of the duo @binomi with his friend @slim-jordi.
This DJ set was recorded in Madrid at the Temple event, curated by @machines-desirantes and @javier-camunas, which takes place at @espacio-perpendicular, an intimate venue with exquisite sound. This particular set is Temple 03 featuring @hardcore-chillout, and it's an exercise in mixing and merging an older record from around the 80s with a new one, playing with them in such a way that the listener doesn’t know where they are.

For this one, meet T.Modet, aka Lydia Gonzalez, whose music collection spans a vast spectrum of styles, offering endless possibilities. T.Modet's eclectic sets begin at a slow, warm tempo and then take the audience over the top with sharper, more somber beats. Lydia's profound connection with music wasforged during her global travels from a young age, drawing inspiration from the world's primitive sounds. In Seville, she delved into flamenco, rock, folk, and soundtracks, expanding into electrified realms like tech break, house, electro, Balearic, downtempo, and breakbeat during her teen years.

About Mostra:
Mostra is a cultural proposal for the city of Barcelona that includes an electronic music festival and many other parallel activities all through the year. An independent, small-format festival of avant-garde and experimental electronic music which emerges as a counterpoint to the macro-festivals and the overcrowded, commercial and rather impersonal offerings of other large events.

Mostra's third edition took place between the 28th and 31st March. T.Modet's three-hour set opened the last day of performances at the iconic Castell de Montjuïc on Sunday the 31st. March.

"After drifting apart for such long years we were able to collide again live at Mostra, Romi on the beats, controlling the energy and Javier on dubs and bass creating an abstract floor to thrive on 2 octatracks, a machinedrum, an sp404 and FXs over a shared mixer with burning incense floating.

Mostra is a gem and having its team and crowd so close while playing was a total highlight forever. 
An unknown sound issue on the recording of the set had us remove the last 40 minutes so we will not remember how the experience finished. Thanks everyone."

Perpendicular Festival is a pilgrimage for electronic music devotees, who like their electronic music edgy, innovative, and deep, drawing them from across the globe to Spain's secluded woodlands. A brainchild of the crew behind Madrid's iconic Espacio Perpendicular venue, the festival features the vanguard of ambient and techno (and everything in between) over three days and nights.

We are delighted and honored to present you with some of the sets from this year's edition of the Perpendicular Festival. Keep an eye on our "Delayed with..." series in the upcoming months because some incredible sets are coming your way.

We are starting in style. Hardcore Chillout co-founder, a London-based artist Mark Geary, aka Eight Fold Way, who in his spare time explores the multidimensionality of sound, graced the decks on Sunday late afternoon. Even though it feels that there is overuse of terms like "journey," "trip," or "voyage," these types of DJ sets should be referred to as such without hesitation. Eight Fold Way expertly unveils new layers of sound as the set slowly develops from experimental ambient to chuggier and broken low-slung rhythms that, with such ease, morph into the deepest shades of techno. Once the listeners arrive at the bottom of the Mariana trench, Eight Fold Way keeps the tension sprinkled with several curveballs dipped in acid and quirky, very hypnotic percussions. The whole set feels like a natural progression from one style to another, and that's a quality of skillful DJ. Mark brings on proper UK vibes in the last quarter of the mix and finishes it with Neinzer’s gem - Horus from Timedance’s Patina Echoes compilation from a few years back.

We are incredibly proud to present this new journey in our Podcast Series recorded by one of our favourite artists, the Barcelona-based DJ and producer Savlador Coromina aka ABSIS 💫

ABSIS needs little introduction for anyone closely following the Spanish deep electronic music scene. Salva is a multi-faceted artists with a consistently impeccable output crisscrossing through genres including drone ambient, hypnotic techno, progressive downbeat and intricate atmospheric half-time. For his most recent release, he returned to the local Hivern Discs and has previously put out music via Oslated, Affin, Secuecias Temporales, Crescent London and the HOC Radio affiliated red edge (a label we recommend checking out if you’re not yet familiar) ✨

Nearly two and a half hours long, this recording showcases Salva’s deep sensibility to commanding energy within a mix, holding it back and releasing as he plays with tension and truly tests the frontiers between ambient and dance music. It is a testament to how reframing genres and introducing them in different contexts can completely alter the way in which we perceive them and how a well researched and carefully executed mix can transcend any preconceived ideas about these. This approach is harmoniously aligned with our vision and we couldn’t be more excited for you to embark on this incredible sonic adventure. Buckle up for the ride! 🌀
