They cannot spend this in harmony with the Lord, and so they must endure the pain which the Messenger of Death inflicts upon their heads. ||2||

The Holy Guru has dedicated His Being to the Lord's service; with great devotion apply the dust of His feet to your face.

In this world and the next, you shall recieve the Lord's honour, and this mind shall be imbued with the permanent colour of the Lord's love. ||3||

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਾਣੀ) ਅੱਖ ਝਮਕਣ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਮੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਕਦੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਭੁੱਲਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦੀ ਧਾਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
My Beloved has brought forth a river of nectar. The Guru has not held it back from my mind, even for an instant. ||1||Pause||

ਦਰਸਨ ਪਰਸਨ ਸਰਸਨ ਹਰਸਨ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗੀ ਕਰਤਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਛੋਹ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Beholding it, and touching it, I am sweetened and delighted. It is imbued with the Creator's Love. ||1||

ਖਿਨੁ ਰਮ ਗੁਰ ਗਮ ਹਰਿ ਦਮ ਨਹ ਜਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਰਿ ਹਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੩੪॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆਂ ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦਾ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਕਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਰੱਖ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਾਰ (ਬਣਾ ਕੇ) ਰੱਖ ।੨।੫।੧੩੪।
Chanting it even for a moment, I rise to the Guru; meditating on it, one is not trapped by the Messenger of Death. The Lord has placed it as a garland around Nanak's neck, and within his heart. ||2||5||134||

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਾਜੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਦਾ) ਕੰਮ ਰਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
The Lord God has arranged the marriage ceremony;

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੀਆਹਣਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਹੁਣ ਲਈ ਆ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ (ਜਿਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
He has come to marry the Gurmukh.

ਵੀਆਹਣਿ ਆਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਨ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ । 
He has come to marry the Gurmukh, who has found the Lord. That bride is very dear to her Lord.

ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲ ਗਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥
ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The humble Saints join together and sing the songs of joy; the Dear Lord Himself has adorned the soul-bride.

ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ਅਪੂਰਬ ਜੰਞ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੇ ਸਮੇ ਜਾਂਞੀ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਦੈਵੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਗਤ-ਜਨ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਇਕ ਅਦੁਤੀ ਜੰਞ ਬਣਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
The angels and mortal beings, the heavenly heralds and celestial singers, have come together and formed a wondrous wedding party.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ (ਸਤ ਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਜੰਞ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ, ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ) ਉਹ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ।੪।੧।੩।
O Nanak, I have found my True Lord God, who never dies, and is not born. ||4||1||3||

ਛੀਰ ਕੈਸੀ ਛੀਰਾਵਧਿ ਛਾਛ ਕੈਸੀ ਛਤ੍ਰਾਨੇਰ ਛਪਾਕਰ ਕੈਸੀ ਛਬਿ ਕਾਲਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਕੂਲ ਕੈ ॥
(ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ) ਛੀਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਦੁੱਧ ਵਰਗੀ, ਛਤ੍ਰਪੁਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਸੀ ਵਰਗੀ, ਜਮਨਾ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਵਰਗੀ,
Awadh is like milk and the town of Chhatraner is like buttermilk; the banks of Yamuna are beautiful like the brilliance of the moon.

ਹੰਸਨੀ ਸੀ ਸੀਹਾ ਰੂਮ ਹੀਰਾ ਸੀ ਹੁਸੈਨਾਬਾਦ ਗੰਗਾ ਕੈਸੀ ਧਾਰ ਚਲੀ ਸਾਤ ਸਿੰਧ ਰੂਲ ਕੈ ॥
ਸੀਹਾ-ਰੂਮ (ਨਗਰੀ) ਵਿਚ ਹੰਸਨੀ ਜਿਹੀ, ਹੁਸੈਨਾਬਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀਰੇ ਜਿਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਤਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰਾ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੱਚ ਨੂੰ (ਲਜਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ) ਗੰਗਾ ਦੀ ਧਾਰਾ ਜਿਹੀ,
The country of rum is like the beautiful Hansani (damsel), the town of Husainabad is like a diamond; the winsome current of the Ganges make the seven seas diffident.

ਪਾਰਾ ਸੀ ਪਲਾਊਗਢ ਰੂਪਾ ਕੈਸੀ ਰਾਮਪੁਰ ਸੋਰਾ ਸੀ ਸੁਰੰਗਾਬਾਦ ਨੀਕੇ ਰਹੀ ਝੂਲ ਕੈ ॥
ਪਲਾਊਗੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਰੇ ਵਰਗੀ, ਰਾਮਪੁਰ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਦੀ ਜਿਹੀ, ਸਾਰੰਗਪੁਰ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ੋਰੇ ਜਿਹੀ (ਸਫ਼ੈਦ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ) ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਰਹਾ ਵਿਆਪਤ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
Palayugarh is like mercury and Rampur is like siver; Surangabad is like nitre (swinging elegantly).

ਚੰਪਾ ਸੀ ਚੰਦੇਰੀ ਕੋਟ ਚਾਦਨੀ ਸੀ ਚਾਦਾਗੜਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ਰਹੀ ਮਾਲਤੀ ਸੀ ਫੂਲ ਕੈ ॥੧੨॥੨੬੪॥
ਚੰਦੇਰੀ ਦੇ ਕਿਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਬੇ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ, ਚਾਦਾਗੜ੍ਰਹ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਦਨੀ ਵਰਗੀ, ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਮਾਲਤੀ ਦੇ ਫੁਲ ਵਾਗ (ਹਰ ਥਾ ਪਸਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ) ॥੧੨॥੨੬੪॥
Kot Chanderi is like Champa flower (Michelia Champacca), Chandagarh is like moonlight, but Thy Glory, O Lord! is like the beautiful flower of Malti (a creeper). 12.264.;
