Since I started to work more with sampled elements in my productions recently, I remember how much I loved oldschool Hip-Hop and particularly Boom Bap beats for exactly that sound that only sampled vinyl seems to enable. This evening, I experimented with remixing the beat of the allmighty @apollobrown into a more danceable house beat. This is a very rough outline of what I came up with within the hour I sat down to experiment. The source is Apollo Brown - Black Pearls mixed with some 90s House sample CD material (check out my recent post for more on that). For this Period Works Vol.2 EP he has gone back into the ZR archives and selected three new accapella’s to create his new productions.

‘Fly Away’ features live keys from Crackazat himself taking the track into his trademark piano house sound. ‘I’ll Be There’ hits the same classic house sound while ‘Some Day’ goes deeper and more laidback with vocal loops and bass groove.
