Misleading Structures - Inner Heat Ascent

To mark World Oceans Day 2021, we partnered with Concentric Records, TBA-21-Academy and Ocean Archive for a full day of broadcasts based on and inspired by sounds from the oceans.

 The incredible Ocean Archive is a sound library of the seas and harbours of the world, from Galapagos to the North Atlantic. It includes many types of whale, fish, earthquake, seismic explosions, methane seeps, tectonic plates and deep water drilling.

 The artists invited to make broadcasts based on this archive are Jake Muir, Izabel, Beluga, Carl Michael von Hausswolff / Dark Morph, Baby Vulture, Terrence Dixon, Jana Winderen reporting live from the seas, and finally Refuge Worldwide programmer Richard Akingbehin.

Bari-based talent Fedele’s Obscura Music label continues to go from strength to strength as a  pioneering platform for avant-garde techno music with a leftfield twist. Following a string of  poignant releases earlier in the year, the label returns in October with a generous serving of its undeniably unique sound palate provided by a carefully handpicked selection of celebrated  electronic names. 

Heading the bill, label boss Fedele is joined by a worthy cast of adversaries, including Damon  Jee, Stephan Barnem, VNTM, Rez Dorsia, Golden Virgo, Emitr and Dustin Holtsberry.  

Spanning eleven tracks, The Sound Of Obscura takes you on a spirited journey through a myriad  of different genre-loosened vibes. Released in stages, the first single will be from Damon Jee on  the 8th November, Fedele’s ‘Six Days’ on the 10th and finally, Afterlife affiliated Dutch producer  VNTM with his cut ‘Sonar Repitition’ on the 15th November. 

Whether it’s the marauding grittiness ‘Starfield’, the resonant darkness of ‘Healing’ or Works Of  Intent’s ‘Limitless Leisure’ that spins you full of synth-rich electro-laced vocal goodness, the  collectively pleasant lean away from mainstream techno and focus on sonic storytelling delivers  a firm reminder of Fedele’s appeal and his artistic vision for Obscura. 

Nestled between several freshly-squeezed Fedele cuts, you’ll find a library of different tales. From  the afro-infused glitchiness of Rez Dorsia’s ‘Ultra Lux’ right through to the pounding warehouse  persona of Golden Virgo’s ‘Canadian Swinger’, it’s a celebration of everything compilations should  be variety, creativity, boldness and energy, all wrapped up in an artistically digestible ball for  you to enjoy on the dancefloor or the comfort of your own home. 
The Sound Of Obscura is released both digitally and on vinyl on the 18th November via  Obscura Music

A lone, original piece of music falls into the latter group. For “Observatory,” Warmth paints another deep soundscape. He blankets the scene with haunting keys, vast ambiance and crackling details.
