The first offering on Australian label Lunatic Music comes from Jamie Blanco of Ess O Ess. Unit of Measure takes the listener on an acid-laced journey, while Sample Bases shows us Blanco’s range and stays true to the title. To complement the release, both cuts have been flipped and remixed. The A-side getting dubbed out by the don Conrad McDonnell of the Idjut Boys, While the B-side cops treatment by local lunatics Dexter Gregg & Mick Harney of Oak Park.

The dynamic duo known as @esso-ess (aka Chris Stoker and Jamie Blanco) return to Not An Animal Records for their latest release! 'Secret Place' perfectly showcases their uncanny knack for deftly balancing the rockier end of disco with the authenticity of early house.

We're premiering the second of two remixes from revered Japanese producer @kuniyuki-takahashi, whose early four-track tape recordings were recently collected on a new Music From Memory compilation. His 'Soft Mix' comes as a digital exclusive here - flooded with spacious pathos and backwards guitars.

Not An Animal are known for their heated takes on the art of disco-sampling house music, and Ess O Ess is one of the key factors in defining that sound. This comes through in spades on Take You To A Secret Place, where the title track comes marching out atop a deadly bassline that will cut through any mix to get the people freaking out. The dub mix is equally deadly, flying a generous dose of cosmic sparkle into the mix without losing the punch in the original production. Kuniyuki Hard takes a daring approach that slows the track down to a creep and emphasises space and tension. The Angophora version is even more drastic, seemingly stripping all the recognisable elements of the track out and leaving behind a plaintive thread of ambient instrumentation.
