In the late 2010s, the psytrance comet smashed into the paradise island of Ibiza, giving birth to an unprecedented hybrid: the relentless force of psytrance's rolling basslines meets the sunny fun of Ibiza electro. Out of this collision emerged sounds that stand out in the psy universe, undeniably more pop, with clear variations in track arrangements, swinging between full-on passages and typically sleek electro moments, all with a juicy, thumping bassline.

Esteban Desigual’s journey started in the world of hard dance in 2021. Over time, he was drawn to psytrance, where he could dive deeper and convey more profound stories through his music. Now, he’s all about mixing in funk and jazz elements with the power of the psy kick and bass. Launching off this style with his 2023 EP Vaisseau Magique, Esteban’s sets flow from infectious psyfunk grooves into darker, mind-bending realms. 

His latest mix for Psy Alliance starts with his brand-new track Cosmic Affair, set for release this month on Flirt upcoming V.A., carrying forward his signature vibe. For Esteban, blending worlds is at the core of his artistry.

In 2024, Esteban’s artistic evolution took an unexpected turn: he removed his mask. By shedding this layer of storytelling, he’s letting the music speak for itself. Committed to the psytrance scene, Esteban will release upcoming EPs on dedicated psytrance labels while continuing to perform in the techno and rave scenes to introduce more people to the rich, captivating energy of psytrance.
