This is part of an hour-long journey piece in response to Ryan Skelton's photographic exhibition, commissioned by ArtHouse Jersey which Esther performed in the exhibition space blending pre-recorded electronic compositions with live performance using voice, electric guitar, the shruti and singing bowls.

Esther Rose Parkes

Esther Rose Parkes is a music artist working across diverse forms and contexts, including recently as a co-founder of the Moving Arts Collective. 

Esther released her first album “The Other Country” produced in Sweden by American Blues musician Brian Kramer. The Other Country” received positive reviews by UK Folk Radio, UK Fatea Magazine and others. Esther’s songs have been played Europe-wide on British, French and Scandinavian radio stations. Esther has also released 5 EPs over the past 15 years.

Esther has recently been composing electronic music and has a particular interest in soundscapes and sound installations. Her most recent project was a commission by ArtHouse Jersey to respond musically to Ryan Skelton’s photographic exhibition ‘Cambion’ . Esther produced an hour-long journey piece which she performed in the exhibition space blending pre-recorded electronic compositions with live performance using her voice, the electric guitar, the shruti and singing bowls.

Esther is part of the ongoing Project The Soundchannel Residency, created by producer Aras Amiri, which brings together five musicians based in France, London and Jersey.

Esther co-founded the lullaby project, an ethnographic arts project that collects lullabies from across Jersey, runs lullaby writing workshops and sets up sound installations in various contexts.
