Nuwa (Original Mix) [Astral Records]

Astral Records opens the month of October by welcoming AquAdro to the label for their debut EP. Based in Italy and comprised of Andrea Del Grosso and Antonio Castaldi, the AquAdro project first emerged in 2007. Inspired by the sounds of Hernan Cattaneo, Deep Dish, Satoshi Tomiie and more, the duo found favourable footing in the progressive music underground, landing releases courtesy of Bonzai Progressive, Stellar Fountain, Sudam Recordings and their own Revelation imprint. A shift in style has reinvigorated AquAdro of late, with a distinct astral techno flair to their productions the Italian duo has found a home on Awen Records, Three Hands Records and Valkyria Records. Now continuing that momentum, AquAdro add Astral Records to their resume with 'Nuwa' alongside a remix from Voices of valley.

One year after his 3rd EP "Pressure", @djbjf returns on CxC for his 4th EP called ‘’Sirens”. This 3-track EP was made with the same recipe as his previous bangers: heavy drums, minimalist cold melodies and chopped vocals. It showcases Miami bass influences in ‘’Voltage’’ for the first time and a collaboration with his talented producer and DJ friend @anyoneID on ‘’Kildem’’.

Track by Track
The EP starts with ‘’Voltage’’. The title refers to the Volt Mix, a rhythm inspired by Miami bass used since the late 80’s in Brazilian funk. BJF builds a dark mood with sirens and echoed shoutings around a solid drum pattern. A chopped vocal sample comes like a warning to light up the atmosphere.
‘’Break Bad’’ is the 2nd track of the EP. This track showcases BJF’s
signature: around 130 bpm, funky rhythm with heavy drums, chopped vocals, and minimalist sirens. The recipe still works well - a sure value. 
‘’Kildem’’ is the 1st (not the last?) collaboration between BJF and Parisian producer & DJ anyoneID, who released his last EP ‘’Cross Rhythm’’ via Couvre x Chefs. The track blends fast-paced dembow with nervous cowbells, repetitive whoopings, and anyoneID’s signature trancy leads.

Bio
French DJ and producer BJF is a key member of the Couvre x Chefs musical curation collective. His productions and DJ sets blur the lines between grime, dancehall, baile funk, dembow, UK Funky and other percussive styles. His productions and remixes are played worldwide in clubs, festivals and on platforms like Boiler Room, BBC Radio 1, NTS Radio, Rinse and others. He’s released music on labels such as Couvre x Chefs, NAAFI, Egregore, XXIII, Love In The Endz and Nehza Records. As a DJ he has performed in iconic venues across Europe (Razzmatazz, La Machine du Moulin Rouge...) sharing the stage with the likes of King Doudou, Greg, Sylvere, Bianca Oblivion, DJ Babatr...

Tokyo-based producer/dj SEIMEI makes his Sorry Records debut with four slamming tracks touching on techno, breaks, robot vocal electro, and party rocking house. Only the second Sorry Records release from a non-US based artist in our nearly ten years of existence, Seimei's Tokyo Funky Breaks EP features a slammin remix from Seimei's brother and fellow young Japanese legend Carpainter in addition to a bonkers Florida Breaks remix from our friend and Baltimore-born, Brooklyn-based club music star JIALING (a.k.a. BIG J).

Co-founder of seminal Japanese dance music collective/label TREKKIE TRAX, Seimei has been a tireless force in the Japanese dance underground for over a decade now. TREKKIE TRAX's catalog is absolutely massive -- 190 releases and counting, over 800 tracks of all shapes and sizes released with DIY care and love over the last 10 years. Seimei's productions have been released on superb labels like Moveltraxx, WET TRAX, Midnight Cult, Top Billin Music, Akihabara Heavy Industry Inc. He's remixed Japanese techno legend Ken Ishii, done guest mixes for both Hessle Audio, LUCKYME® on Rinse FM, and Mix Up Exclusives on triple J presented by Nina Las Vegas.

Seimei also runs a monthly radio program ‘TREKKIE TRAX RADIO’ on the Japanese biggest dance music radio station ‘Block.fm’ and has a residency on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM.

He has developed a style combining the sounds of underground Brazilian electronic music with the abrasiveness of the UK’s ever-growing dance music scene. Baiano is a homage to his Brazilian & Bahian roots. Using unique percussions sampled in Bahia recorded by Sam Interface and gifted to him to use in his productions he has put together a mix of authentic Brazilian drums mixed with UK dance music and Baile Funk influences.
