The Bun Boys are agents of non-conformist disco chaos, frequently shirtless, except when too many people are also shirtless, in which case they would rather be wearing a shirt, thank you very much. 

One of them is Dutch. The other is American, eh. What else? Well, they both have buns. They both like buns. They both talk about buns, and whether they're cruising Fire Island, Tropical Island, San Francisco, Boiler, or the Boathouse they have but one rule: All Fun, with the Bun (Boys). Poppers anyone?

Note: This first mix is dedicated to Enzio’s doctor, who valiantly and efficiently executed an appointment while we were recording.

Go deep into the ocean with Val Air and dance like you’re coming up for air again, and to cap it off Leith Links joins us to finish the comp off with a stella banging, crashing wrong house groover that hits in all the right places.

Time Machine 1988 with Enzio Etchaberri | Refuge Worldwide February 2023

Dear listener,

Here the warm up opening set from the 6-day opening festivities at Sisyphos, Berlin in March 2023.

I had the honour of playing the very first records of the new season on my favourite floor with my favourite crowd. Here the recording. What I consider a proper warm up set and boy do I miss those slots sometimes. A journey through 40+ years of dance music with lots of personal favourites old and new. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Opening of the Opening in Wintergarten | Sisyphos

The compilation starts with Jakob Mäder’s new track, Morning Sun. The Stuttgart-based artist produced a clear and super emotional house anthem. The tune evolves nicely, following its
touching synths and high energy bass. Its name says it all, probably one of the nicest tracks to play at early morning when the sun rises on the dancefloor. The second track is a more complex mix of italo basslines and rave pads & breaks, winking at the great work of influential artists as Skatebard. While we are still waiting for the summer, with “July Nights North of Bergen” Enzio Etchaberri sends us back to an ocean of memories made of endless nights spent dancing till we fall asleep. The EP closes with ValAir, Mister T. records label owner,’s first track on the label. Choir Offense is an interesting mix, focusing first on powerful and organic drums, leading us through the tune. While it could have been
just another tool, the track reveals another dimension with its rave stabs giving it a deeper touch in direct line with the two other productions of the EP.

Musik Zum Tanzen really appears as a tribute to high energy italo-house and warehouse / rave aesthetics of dancers being in communion all night under the starlight and the bliss of early sunrises.

From ’82 to the present and back to ’82 and everything in between. Join me on an evening Wintergarten ride to open a new season, with the old sounding new and the new sounding old. With thematic stops along the way, touching on a rich heritage of the dance music culture we still celebrate today. For the tree to grow and blossom is to understand the roots and nourishing them.

There’s something uniquely grounding about a conversation with someone like Enzio Etchaberri. The type of person who finds joy in the act of digging, discovering, and sharing music with the world. As a DJ, music producer, and programmer for one of Berlin’s most iconic clubs Enzio carries a deep respect for the roots of electronic dance music. All the while keeping an eye on its evolving future. Whether locked in his Lichtenberg studio or playing in the thick of Berlin’s nightlife his approach feels thoughtful, deliberate, and intensely human.

Thinking back to a fall morning last year in Sisyphos’ Wintergarten I can’t help but smile. It was one of those often times rare instances when everything – the music, the colors, the energy – came together to remind you why we gather in these spaces. No phones, no rush.

It’s those moments that Enzio seems to understand so well, and it’s exactly why I’m excited to share this conversation and the his wonderful mix with to you, our listeners!
