Relative Dimensions kick off 2017 with a massive bang. In 1998 Air gave us the amazing moon safari album.
In 2017 it's been given a remix of huge proportions. We kick off with JPrimes reworking of 'Ce Matin La', heavy drums, base that'll make granny get out of the rocking chair, and a heavy slice of PE thrown in.
Up next is Leygo and his rework of the classic 'Kelly Watch the stars'. A mellow house huge dancefloor chugger that remains sympathetic to the original.
Then, who else than Monstafunk. When Air made 'Sexy Boy' little did they know that one of the best remixers in the game would drop lyrics on top of it about pussy, ass, and weed. All trademarks of the genius that is Monstafunk.
Lastly, Vinyl Messi takes 'All I need', picks it up, gives it a shake, and gives it a DnB flavour that would make even the most dour Parisian get on the dancefloor.

Delighted to be asked to remix Matuki, one my favourite bands in Bristol these days.  The musicians on this recording were so damn funky I repeatedly found myself dancing at my desk for extended periods of time with very little progress on the actual remix being made! But I just about managed to fight off the funk and power on through to combine their 2 part track  'Injo' and reprise 'Injo Badingkolo' into this funky 11 minute afro-beast! An infectious brand of subterranean pop fused with soul, funk and breaks cleverly spliced together to create the distinctive sound of Grinny Grandad. Based on the scissors and string mind of Chris Morton, the bands reputation for originality has earned them shows at major festivals including Glastonbury and Beat-Herder .

Described as 'Motown meets Def Jam' by Groove Armada for their 2010 release 'The Good Girl', 2013 sees Grinny Grandad set to release their latest EP, 'The Car-Bootleg'. The lead track, 'Monty' which samples Fleetwood Mac's 'Oh Well', spliced seamlessly with a recreation of the 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' theme song is superbly topped with the vocals of Claire Swain. It is this gem that perfectly showcases the bands exuberance, earning the track comparisons to Jon Bonham of Led Zeppelin from BBC Radio 6 host, Tom Robinson.

The quirky undertone of 'Swim Fish' blends vocals reminiscent of 1930's Pioneer Days Mickey Mouse with hard hitting breaks. An unlikely marriage of music and yet it works incredibly well. The ability to successfully shift, merge and mix genres comes natural to Grinny Grandad. 

The final track on the EP, 'Q The Pimp', a floor filling break beat anthem with a smart groove, promises to render you helpless as the guitar riffs intensify and the rhythm swells fittingly paired with the line 'everybody rumble.' Not just anyone can sample PJ and Duncan and get away with it.

This summer Grinny Grandad will be performing on the festival circuit, starting with Beat-Herder festival in early July.
