Huge honor for us to welcome DJ Overdose @jayoverdose to our family. He's one of the pillars of the Dutch electro scene. He is a low-key yet vital artist who hails from The Hague but is based in Rotterdam. His unique take on electro oozes the atmospheres of these famous musical cities. Ever since starting out in eighties, he has been looking to cook up a sense of fun, “where the subs are devastating and the beats are raw.” He underpins his work with booming Miami bass and tends not to look outwards across the contemporary landscape, instead he continues to draw on his love of 80s hip hop for inspiration, then skews it through his own lens.

Famously dexterous in the booth, DJ Overdose has well honed skills that make him able to tear up a larger stage or connect with a more intimate crowd. Electro, Dutch electronics, 80’s pop, Kraftwerk and of course Miami bass can all feature and his deserving reputation has taken him to gigs across the US and Canada as well as key events in Europe.

In the studio, Overdose is a master technician on a range of hardware. By now, he speaks his own language through these machines, whether working solo, or in previous collaborations with the likes of Alden Tyrell or Mr. Pauli. As well as under his own name, he works under alases like Dream Disco, HAEX-HRLL, Extranova and Model Man, but never puts out music for the sake of it.

Instead, he has a small but perfectly formed discography that includes mutant electro funk and ghetto disco albums, as well as EPs that touch on sci-fi tinged soundtracks and more dark and fatalistic adventures. They come on cult labels likes Viewlexx, Pinkman, L.I.E.S., Unknown to the Unknown, Creme Organization and his own RotterHague. It is a label that brings him together with artists from around the world for a series of EPs called ‘Where Cities Collide,’ where sonic similarities and stylistic differences are explored and embraced.

It's been a while, but we're finally coming with another podcast after a small transformation. A young and promising Prague DJ, Malachi Constant, recorded this new piece shining with the magic number 33. Don't be fooled by his relatively short playing period; he very quickly has found his own place on the Czech electronic scene. Currently, he's active as a Fuchs2 resident, and on Radio Laude, he hosts his own show, Crescendo. In addition, he forms the duo Secret Gardens with another Prague DJ, Matysku.

Malachi's musical range is broad, unafraid to navigate sensitively between genres. We've already seen that he can get a party going wild, and now, let's enjoy his more listenable side.

Mayss did not have much to say and I’m still redacting my graduation ceremony speech that took place two weeks ago thus I’ll keep it short. Mayss has a big heart and I like crossing her in the streets cuz she radiates hope despite we both living in a city where dreams come to die lol. So if in 2022 Mayss still finds love and inspiration in the art then i'll act accordingly and continue to find  love and inspiration in the arts. Other than that it is a pretty dope mix; listened  to it on repeat while re-potting the tomatoes in the garden; I do hope  they felt the cosmic frequencies of the mix while I handled them and they’ll thrive and become stallion tomatoes cuz I already invited her over to taste the harvest in 8-to-10 weeks. Today it’s also summer solstice and indigenous day so tune-in to the mix an honour ur place in the universe I’d say.

This week we welcome the talented Maria Pravda to the series. Earning her stripes in the Olomouc Metro club in the Czech city of the same name, her story continues in Prague where she is a breath of fresh air to the scene which earned her residencies at local clubs like Ankali and Planet Za. She recently became part of the international exchange program Gravity between residents of Jasna1 club in Warsaw, Revier Südost in Berlin and Ankali in Prague. She has mixed it up in Amsterdam's Garage Noord and newly launched Rotterdam-based club Bit, as well as earning a slot in the Panorama Bar in Berlin. Lock in for an hour of dubby and organic downtempo electronics.

Fairplay has been a feature of electronic music now for nearly two decades, first playing electro and ghettotech in the early 00’s, his time in Cold Wave band Battant, or his time as a duo with Andrew Weatherall in the Asphodells, as well as his solo work.
