Ethan Mitchell is an up-and-coming Ottawa singer-songwriter. He draws on his background as a cellist to craft engaging harmonies and lyrical melodies, paired with intricate finger-picking guitar playing. A prolific songwriter, Ethan is known for his witty and often sardonic lyrics dealing with themes from heartbreak to mental health to the absurdity of modern man. He draws influence from folk, bluegrass and old time music, finding inspiration in artists like Tom Waits and Shakey Graves. In addition to his work as a performer, Ethan is a teacher both privately and with Red Bird Live’s school of music.
