Making waves previously on Exploited as well as on Blue Shadow and Monaberry (alongside AIKON), dentist-cum-producer Sandhog is back with another hot EP.

Oriental vibes abound on the beguiling ‘Bonifacio’, where a punchy kick underpins on-beat electric bass in driving fashion, and a beautiful plucked Eastern instrument laces the track with metallic, pitch-bending mysticism. Somewhere in the distance a Thai-funk-esque electric guitar solo noodles away as hypnotic Thai vocal wails draw us in further.

‘Oishii’ snaps along with an electro-tinged swagger, with old skool funked-up bass giving the track a real wiggle amidst tight percussion. Subtle chord sequences and sassy male vocals colour in the gaps, with rasping synths heightening the breakdown tension. A sweet double-time synth hook pushes the track along with renewed vigour after the drop, and acidic squelches add a thicc layer to the bass.

Having sprinkled her magic on ‘Herbert’s Finest 06’ earlier this year, one of techno’s most distinctive vibe evangelists returns to the Monaberry family fold for her first full label release: Bebetta.

Monabetta: it’s the perfect match... Like Monaberry’s output, Bebetta’s joyous unpredictability ensures a blindfold ride into sensory abandon with not so much as a whiff of preconceptions, formula or rigidity.

‘Uppercut’ is less of a punch and more a slo-mo disco karate chop where stars and rainbows appear on impact. The uncompromised kicks and thwacking eight-bar snare snap your senses while the pensive one note riff, bulbous bass and cosmic synth weaves gradually climax into a Detroitian piano-smashing riff so evocative you could just lose your shoes.

‘Shimmy’ brings to mind oceanic ripples, which swell progressively and a timeless arpeggio, which ebbs, flows and occasionally bursts into full bodied bass before breaking out into an illustrious build where ghostly vocals mirror the sea’s glimmers in an agelessly classic way.

Remix-wise Monabetta is packing equally serious heat: Viktor Talking Machine play the quintessential Street Fighters with an ‘Uppercut’ version that pummels with a juicy 808 and a short sharp break into the heavenly piano hook. German Brigante flips the switch on ‘Shimmy’, too, twisting our focus on the creepy crawly bass and pure epicity of the chords. Finally Lowertones bossman Leix adds a softer focus to ‘Uppercut’s emotional narrative and more of a jacking swing to the drums for a shorter, subtler journey.

Debuting on Kompakt with a masterfully twisted remix of Gui Boratto's "Take Control" (KOMPAKT 302) in 2014, Miami-based DJ/Producer DANNY DAZE had already made himself a name with outings on tastemaking labels like Maceo Plex's Ellum Audio, Ultramajic or Miami's very own Omnidisc - but it was the raw and muscular SPEICHER 80 that really opened up our receptors. Danny's recipe for bendy, electro- infused techno turned out to be insanely catchy and ripe with bass, a bold, futuristic and funky vision for the dancing floor that finds a brilliant follow-up in his latest outing: two new exercises in off-the-cuff mayhem grace SPEICHER 91, with face-melting uber- jam SWIM kicking off a weird and wonderful parade of synth riffs, belting beats and pure arpeggio anarchy - while the flipside is held hostage by the razor-sharp, robotic funk of MACHINE, Danny's second collaboration with TRANSLUCENT for Speicher after the hard-hitting "Speaker Language" (KOMPAKT EXTRA 80).

Carlo Ruetz makes his debut on Oliver Huntemann's Senso Sounds with The Trick EP - further evidence of his increasing mastery of tough, thrilling Techno. The Rostock born DJ and producer found a wider audience in 2013 after receiving support from Richie Hawtin and subsequently releasing on MINUS - and here he flexes his production muscles once again.
'Trick' is an acidic tinged banger - a ferocious dancefloor workout for prime time whatever the location. 'Artefact' is another example of Ruetz’s control over dynamics - the track containing
several moments of high intensity that raises the temperature, yet maintaining a spacey, minimal vibe. 'Divided Universe' is another hard-hitter - a driving rhythm accompanied by laser-like melodic
flourishes and menacing atmospheres. 'Resoflash' keeps up the releases’ tough and funky vibe - a killer rolling bassline and firing percussion deliver the heat.
