SVNSET WAVES is so excited to welcome finji to the family with a brand new five-track EP, ygb. The London-based producer first took part in RISING TIDES 015 with his track, peckham, showcasing a deep and unique perspective into the melding of electronic music and experimental jazz. This next collection of tracks is no divergence from finji's tendency to push boundaries, as each track is sure to be unlike something you've heard before.

"When making music, everything comes from processing thoughts that keep the mind busy. Often these thoughts are about my personal relationship to people, ideas and beliefs. When this comes together, it's confusing and often contrary.

Yellow Green Blue oscillates a wavy path between all of these thoughts. From love, to fear, to wishes, to change. We want to be loved and happy and in that sense we can be selfish sometimes, which can reduce the time and care we allocate to solving actual issues around us. We’re often too busy with ourselves. We should try to understand that all things should be treated with equal respect, even stones in the mountains on the paths we walk. Everything is connected and the only way is to start reflecting on and understanding what is truly important: something no one can teach us. We need to stop living old thoughts, thoughts of others and then start to think for ourselves.

Midnight Drift” is a slow-moving journey through the Nordic night - a cinematic blend of frozen atmosphere, soft analog warmth, and quiet electronic motion. Built around deep, rounded bass and shimmering pads that breathe like cold air, the track drifts forward with a gentle arpeggio that feels more like a guiding light than a melody.

As the soundscape opens up, the drop unfolds not with impact, but with expansion 
like a blue aurora spreading across a silent sky.

Subtle textures of ice, wind, and glowing static add depth to the mix, creating a world that feels both futuristic and organic.
This is music for late-night drives, empty roads, and reflective moments when the world stands still.

“Midnight Drift” captures the essence of Nordic ambient electronica:
calm, spacious, emotional, and endlessly drifting.

I created it from a college project. I wasn't getting much time to make music between college and work. fortunately, my biology professor said for one of our projects we could get creative and show a habitat through art, music, etc. I chose the ocean and used sounds from dolphins, whales, ocean waves, and deep-sea ambiance. hope you enjoy the end result :)
