Took me like an hour to throw this 20 minute track together.
If you don't know who or what Shpongle is, they are two guys who make crazy trippy spiritual psybient music and play venues around the world. These guys have been together for a while now and are amazing.


This is nowhere NEAR completed, just so your aware.

STELLA MARIS

It began two years ago, when my brother brought a poem to me and asked me to set a tune to it. From there, we began exploring a lot of Church music, Christian hymns, folk-tunes and so forth. The score had to sound like it belonged to a very particular era, and yet be quite alien at the same time. It was about building an idiosyncratic world visually and sonically around the central mother-son relationship. Something that alluded to existing traditions and archetypes, and yet felt strangely unfamiliar. And so we ended up with a score that ranged from full-blown original choral settings of "Ave Maria", to introverted drones built from the sounds of Church bells.

Many thanks goes out Trevor Dick for performing the strings. And One Voice Children's Choir for the beautiful choral performances.
