Ethereal's origins can be traced back to somewhere in high school land, 2006, when novice drummer Chris Field and  beginner guitarist Robert Thomas made some noise in a garage, covering Blink 182 and laying the first ground work for what was later known as ‘The Metal Song’. They soon convinced close friend Jarred Taylor to take up bass and called themselves ‘Waiting for the Day’. The next couple of years saw casual jamming, a couple of fairly average originals and some low key gigs at parties and other social events. It also resulted in an untitled three track demo being recorded with a friend way before the originals were any good. In 2009 things got a little more serious, with the guys playing at a couple of local pub and music venues with a number of more polished originals and some rocking covers. These tunes also saw the band to second place in a schools battle of the bands called Bandstand. The prize was a fully recorded and mixed three track self titled EP, which the band released at the end of the year under the current name of ‘Ethereal’. A couple more casual shows followed, but when all three members went to separate institutes to study a kind of hiatus occurred, with small spurts of writing and playing interspersed with silent tumbleweed months. Between 2010 and 2012, Ethereal wrote and recorded ‘The King’ and ‘Curious Fox’ in a small studio Rob set up at home, which achieved some decent listening time on Youtube and Triple J Unearthed. The end of 2012 saw a decision to bring some new energy and drive to the band, with a number of new writing projects under way and the recruiting of enigmatic lead guitarist Tristan Seymour. Now in 2013, more noise is being heard, vocal harmonies perfected, rock outs being written, screaming lead lines being etched into songs, and a number of shows being lined up! Previously little known Ethereal is gearing up to get out into the Perth music scene and play new material to anyone who will listen!
