Digital searches through old Dat tapes and hard drives for unreleased music and combines them with new tracks for Digital's Dirty Dubs. Volume 1 features Spirit, DJ Ratty & Nick EP.



1. "Motherland Dub"

Motherland Dub is a heavier dubbed-out mix of Digital's 'Motherland'. Haunting, eerie vocals glide over pitched-down chunky breaks and serious deep subs that will pummel your bass bins.

2. "Dread Life"

"Dread Life" combines a moment from an '80s reggae dancehall session with jumping breakcore grooves and wobbling bass, creating a ragga piece of Jungle.


3. "An Evil Source"

'Digital, Spirit, DJ Ratty & Nick EP created An Evil Source in the late hours of a party at Digital's house. Rave stabs, riffs, Mentasm, Amen, and Funky Mule breaks show they went for that dark n dirty 93/94 Rave / Jungle sound championed by Dj Ratty. Stay til the end because this one builds perfectly.

4. "Stay"  

Syncopated rhythms and a percussive synth lead merge with a frantic vocal and dynamically juicy breakbeats. Slightly unusual, but it's unique!

I started producing 29 years ago, and in this time, I've never stopped making DNB/Jungle reggae, dub, techno and all kinds of weirdness.

'Flames' and 'Beat Workout' featured on a mix Spirit and I did for my album, Dubzilla. 'Jailhouse' is a paranoid twisted half-time stepper. 'Mask' has dubbed out techy chords, bags of bass and a smooth amen break. 'Common Ground' is me getting into synthesisers. 'Experience' and 'Distance' are musical journeys with heavy basslines. I made 'Forward Thinking' in a dreamy state after a heap of partying, so there's an oddness about it I like.

'Short Memory' and 'Regret' are rowdy two-step rollers. 'Outrage' sounds like a track from 97 with its loud Reese bass and crunchy breaks. (It also sounds like something my pal Outrage would make hence the name) 'Free Roll' shows I'll use a riff lead on any old breakbeat I can find cos it's fun!

Not only is he bringing back the 90's vibes with his beats, he’s an incredible DJ, and following his debut release on Digital’s Function Records, we’re so hyped to have Tim Clay down for our next night on the 18th November. 

It’s riddled with Function dubs and a few of his own slappers, all flawlessly mixed with some crafty crossfader action, we can’t wait to see what he pulls out the bag on the night!

Jason Leder, otherwise known as Method One has been a mainstay of the American Drum & Bass scene for a very long time. Originally hailing from the east coast his earliest claim to fame was remixing DEEE-LITE - “Call Me” in 1994 for Elektra records after Lady Miss Kier heard his cassette demo. Eventually he headed out west to San Francisco where he has remained for over 20 years.
