The new guest of the “ethereal mix” series is singer and producer from Moscow Veronika Steklova, who publishes music by the name MC Ulybochka.

Nika began to engage in musical creativity while still studying at school. She released her first tracks as Nika Boginya at the age of 13-15, and only in 2019 she made her debut under her current pseudonym with the album “Ччч звучит мягко” (“Chchch zvuchit miagko”)

Over the next 4 years, her discography was replenished with the mini-album “Осенний грув” (“Osennii Gruv”, 2020) and the long-plays “Реальная магия» (“Real’naya magiia”, 2021), presented at “Nisha”, and the latest at the moment “Glamour&parkour”, which was released on the “Label” platform in late last month.

In addition, Veronica took part in the creation of the LP “Месседж” («Messedzh”, 2023) by Dima Komarov (Polska Octavia) and “Прозрачность соленых ресниц” («Prozrachnost solyonih resnitz”, 2022) by Kolya Dolgov (Paita). Both artists were also featured in our mixes series.

Let's listen to a new mix for our series from the new guest COLDGATE - producer, DJ and resident of the Moscow label Eternal Delight, which was founded by Georgy Oblansky (Colour 0).

In the spring of 2021, Georgy’s platform catalog was supplemented by the musician’s debut mini-album “Cold Gate”, which also became the first release in the Eternal Delight discography. In December of the same year, COLDGATE was featured on the “No Masters Except God” compilation from the label team.

At the beginning of this summer, the announcement of his long-play “Anhedonia” took place, and in August he recorded a joint mix with Oblansky for his own series Eternal Delight on Hong Kong radio HKCR.

For a new episode of our regular ethereal mixes, we invited audiovisual artist Manuel Sékou, also operating under the moniker luxxuryproblems.

The artist’s mixes appear to a listener as diaries of subtle, seemingly tangible sensations and labyrinths of images. In the new material, he layers microtunes onto texture-rich fragments, as if breaking the recording into a series of successive frames.

Previously, luxxuryproblems was published on labels such as SPA, 76666 and Gem Tones, and has also contributed tracks to compilations from Katharsis, Sirens, World Canvas, Comic Sans and Infinito Audio. Two years ago, his latest mini-album “Flexfit” was released on SPA.

In this year, 'GOST Zvuk' celebrates its 10th anniversary. In honor of this milestone, we decided to get in touch with its founder Ildar Zaynetdinov (low808).

Diana is a close friend of the Beatriz community, for which she recorded the first material in the “Beatriz mix” section. Early last year she launched her own show, Lost In Transition, on Swedish Retreat Radio.

In May 2023, her name was included in the lineup of the joint event from Beatriz and TESTFM “High Creation” in Bangkok.

The new mix in our series was recorded by Chino Amobi, an American artist and co-founder of the NON Worldwide label, who previously worked under the pseudonym Diamond Black Hearted Boy. The list of musicians he has collaborated with includes Elysia Crampton, Rabit, Dedekind Cut, Embaci, Nkisi and WWWINGS. 

In 2016, Chino Amobi shared the EP “Airport Music For Black Folk”, which received the attention of a number of music publications. A year later, he released his debut LP “Paradiso”, which became the best album of the year according to The Wire magazine.

Gui Casciano aka Lacrima with the mix for our series. The Sao Paulo-based producer and DJ has been playing under the moniker User for five years and launched the Buraco label, which has released DJ VST, Anti Yo, MVQX, P. K. Pinheiro and other artists. His sets combine noise, industrial and power electronics.

ethereal mix 090: Evitceles

The Genome 6.66Mbp label in our "ethereal labels" section. Kilo Vee, one of the label's founders, was responsible for the mix of resident artists.

Genome 6.66Mbp was launched in Shanghai by Kilo and Tavi Lee (aka 16666) with support from Charity SsB, Hyph11E and Khemist. In 2012, Vee began working at The Shelter, a key club for the Shanghai scene located on the site of an underground bomb shelter. Having arrived there as a bartender, he eventually began playing sets and met future members of the Genome 6.66Mbp team.

2016 marked the beginning of the Genome 6.66Mbp community. The community started organizing parties for like-minded DJs (Genome Party), and then began releasing music. VJ Tavi, who was responsible for the design of covers and posters, played an important role in this, as did close friends of the label. By the end of the year, The Shelter closed and its management opened a new club, ALL. Genome began performing there.

As Vee said in an interview for Time Out in 2016: "We are a team, a collective, maybe a label ahead of its time. We want to share our worldview with local kids through clothes, music, parties...".

Rabit, Murlo, Dinamarca, Lyzza, Ssaliva, Estoc, Yen Tech, Scintii, DJ Haram, HDMIRROR, Swan Meat, DJH, Qualiatik, Dasychira, Chams, Ytem and others performed at Genome events in China.

The label's catalog features works from Organ Tapes, 7038634357, Rui Ho, Swan Meat, Tumy, 500, Ichiro Tanimoto, Shyqa, Chams, Bungalovv, Yikii, Golin, Dirty K and many other artists from around the world.

Since 2021, the community has been hosting a show on Baihui Internet Radio.

ethereal labels: Genome 6.66Mbp

A new mix for us was recorded by Greek producer Anastasios Tatsis, who is responsible for the Ice_Eyes project, which he started together with Spiros Alpha (left the duo in 2022).

The mix includes tracks by Objekt, Locre, DJ JM, mu tate and others.

Ice_Eyes' works were released on TAR, Genot Centre, Seagrave, Hypermedium, ANBA and a number of other labels. This spring, he released the album "Liminal Reverie" on Magdalena's Apathy, which was created in collaboration with Locre, who also recorded a mix for our series. In July, Anastasios shared the EP "Harmonic Sequences" on the Chilean platform Infinito Audio Network.

The "ethereal mixes" section continues with artist Harrison King aka Sharp Veins. He's released music on Éditions Appærent, Different Circles, Youth and UNO NYC (their catalog includes the work of Malibu, Arca, Chino Amobi, Fatima Al Qadiri and others), and has also recorded mixes for Fact, Rinse FM, Truants, O Fluxo and Dummy (currently DMY).

A month ago, Harrison presented the album "People Pleaser" on his imprint Nowhere Places. Earlier this year, he also shared four EPs of music recorded during a residency in Iceland under the general title "Bitrotten".

A new mix for our series was recorded by a resident of the Moscow label System 108, Maxim Zabolotsky aka DIRTY GLASSEZ.

Last month, Maxim released his debut album “Neverbeen”, and before that, he appeared on STVOL.TV (the platform of the Cream Soda group) and shared the track “Freedom” for the charity compilation “Ne strashno” from Soft Blade.

ethereal mix 093: DIRTY GLASSEZ

A fresh mix for our series was presented by the British artist Endgame. He is known as the co-founder of Bala Club together with brothers Uli K and Kamixlo, as well as the head of the London label Precious Metals, which grew out of his show of the same name on NTS. The Briton's work has been released on the labels Hyperdub, PTP and Golden Mist.

In 2021, his debut longplay "Surrender" was released, two years later supplemented by a remix version. Both records were released on Precious Metals. On November 22, his label shared a compilation, for which Chino Amobi, Organ Tapes, Kamixlo, x​/​o, Blood of Aza, Imaabs and others were invited to work on.

Yana Kedrina aka Kedr Livanskiy gave an interview and recorded a mix for ethereal grooves.

The artist talked about the creation of the new album "Myrtus Myth" and the magic of working together with Flaty. We also talked about the eras of her work, poetry, the importance of release covers and other topics.

On March 7, Yana released the album "Myrtus Myth" on the 2MR label, and in 2023, the EP "K-Notes" and the longplay of the joint project with Flaty "Kosogor".
