Biphobia within our Ethiopian LGBTQ+ communities is rampant.

LBQ people have historically had a tendency to congregate in urban areas, since we are more likely to meet other queer people, the city affords us more anonymity and people in cities generally tend to be more tolerant. This however, leads to the silencing of the voices and experiences of LBQ people who live outside of metropolitan areas.

In this conversation, three LBQs from regional cities and towns discuss their lived experiences. The conversation covers topics such as coming out, finding community, balancing the need to find other queer people with the fear of being found out, using social media to connect with a larger queer community, and about their reactions to coming to Addis and meeting a large LBQ community.
