Armin Bender: 
Armin has been into techno for over 30 years. Started DJing in the 90s. He is still Hobby-DJing, mainly with Vinyl. Since the early 2000 years active in the scene in and around Erlangen / Nuremberg (Germany). Member of local non-Profit Electronic Party Collective called "STRONG SIGNALS". Mind rave, goose bumps, deepness, groove, a smile on the face. Thats what its all about... 
His music was also released on labels: Greyscale, spclnch, Ohm Series Digital and on [PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB].

For the month of April's 'Live' mix we welcome 2 legends from the dub techno scene that we were super happy to welcome behind the Eastern Bloc Decks.

First up 'Ohm' (bjarnar jonsson) the Icelandic producer who has been heavily involved within the scene for the past 30 years steps up with releases on some of dub techno's biggest hitters including Thule records, Kontakt, Taped Artifact, Vade mecum, Vuo records and AE Recordings which he co-ran with Octal Industries and Thor from Thule Records. A label owner himself his 'Ohm Series' label has been steadily releasing music since 2021.

Alongside him 'Kvadrant' (Johnny Fredsgaard) a Danish producer who was a resident on the legendary TweakFM, and runs one of the most healthy and well respected dub techno labels out there currently- Kontakt records. With past artists including - Substance, Mike Schommer, Grad_U, Ohm, VRIL, JS Zeiter, Luke Hess & Octal Industries.

I'm sure you'll agree it's a beautifully put-together 4 hours of deep washy goodness.

" Myself and Johnny came over to honour an invite from our brothers in Music : Quadrant Soundscape. When we first came the place felt small, a little pub thing, but we felt good, the vibe in there just felt good. The hosts started playing some good tracks, the sound system felt big in such a small place. 

We started and it got packed, in such a way that it felt perfect to play some records for the crowd. I love small clubs with big systems and Eastern Bloc was the real deal. Four hours we played, one record at a time and the mood and vibe just kept building. Lots of happy people listening and dancing, it felt surreal and I would do it over and over again. "

OHM:
Veteran Icelandic/Danish techno producer, based in Copenhagen. DJ and producer Ohm (Bjarnar Jónsson) is one of the leading figures in the Icelandic contemporary techno scene. Widely associated with iconic labels. Ohm stays true to his roots by consistently innovating his interpretation of techno music, integrating soul and innovation with the scene.

The Copenhagen-based artist was born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland, and caught the music bug early on. In 1999 his debut release, a collaboration with the Icelandic techno legend Exos, was released on Force Inc and was critically acclaimed. Since then he has been a constant source of techno anthems,
he’s been a regular guest at the legendary techno club Culture Box in Copenhagen. He has also been playing around the world in Clubs and festivals over the last 20 Years or so.

Therefore Ohm Series Digital was created - a sister label from the vinyl-only label.

Quadrant Soundscape presents In Focus 007

The 7th instalment of our In:Focus Series places the spotlight on a very specific point in time - The Early Deepchord records years.

In the late 1990s the Deepchord record label was co-founded by Rod Modell & Mike Schommer in Detroit, Michigan. After just four years and achieving far more success than initially anticipated, DeepChord Records wound down operations. For this In Focus we want to concentrate specifically on the work that Rod and Mike did before they disbanded.

Across the Dub Techno scene the name Deepchord carries the highest of gravitas. Elite level quality, and considered by many to be, alongside Basic Channel, the blueprint of the genre.

So much has been written about Deepchord over the years, and we're not here to repeat what's been said (you can check out a great interview with Mike from a few years ago here - inn8.net/interview-with-mike-schommer-deepchord/ ), we're here to celebrate the music and we hope that through this session we have done that.
