back story of ukelele accompaniment:
when I got to Boulder, my host/friends tasked me to fix a ukelele gifted to their daughter. I figured out the strings were strung in the wrong order, but in the process of messing around with that wrong-ordered uke I found some crazy tuning that plays spectacularly sad minor chords.

A treasured keepsake from my trip to Zimbabwe Sep 2013-Jan 2014, a recording of me playing nhemamusasa in nyamweda, mhondoro with Sekuru Caution Shonhai. Some beat confusion to begin with but we get going eventually.

I picked some chords to accompany the melody and put in a smattering of vocal harmony and this collaborative piece of music was the result! I imagine many of us can relate to finding ourselves with protective mechanisms left over from childhood experiences that don't serve us so well as adults, Zoe's song speaks to this so sweetly.

My concoction of Taireva on Katsanzira dongonda tuning. This inspiration came in the midst of the COVID pandemic July 2020 shortly before and after Sekuru Cosmas Magaya passed away. Rest in peace Sekuru. The part is similar in structure to a Bangidza part I learnt from him.
And singing lines from Ambuya Beauler Dyoko and Chartwell Dutiro.
