I always wanted to contribute to our Folk Musical Heritage and while working for ROHI TV, I got this opportunity. This track “Kya Haal SunawaaN Dil da” by Khwaja Ghulam Fareed was originally performed by Folk Singer Farqeera Bhagat in early 60s. When Mohsin Gillani suggested this song to me, I loved the lyrics immediately and shared the idea with Muhammad Nafees of TV2 Productions, Lahore who introduced me to Sajid Hussain Chakku, a brilliant musician also from Lahore. We contacted Mohan Bhagat, Faqeera Bhagat’s son and convinced him that we are going to revamp the song to give it a modern look without losing its original mystic touch.
After a lot convincing, Mohan Bhagat finally agreed to deviate from his father’s composition and it took one whole Weekend to get this track recorded. I hope you will enjoy listing to this track as much as I enjoyed producing it. So far this is one of my best musical production! Cheers Abbas Wasti
