Come As You Are [Studio Mix]

This piece: 'Conquest of Paradise' is a cover from Vangelis, and most people would know it as a theme track for the movie “1492”.

In 2002, John Styles and his former co-writer / composer Jaap, began to create another arrangement for this song in Germany, but were never able to complete and release it, as Jaap became very ill. From the moment this song was released by Vangelis (1992), Jaap and I wanted to convert it as a duet Orchestral / Band effort, and we even wanted to create solo guitar tracks for it, to run along with The Orchestra at the end. However, John and Jaap were unable to completely finish it.

This song thus stayed on the shelf to be re-discovered and picked up again, and in 2013, because Jaap is no longer with us, both John and Matt started building on the very first ideas / tracks which had been started in 2002 in Germany.

As a result of this new beginning, 'The Orchestra' felt inspired and wanted to play this song as a part of their curriculum, entailing a rebirth and rearrangement of what had already been started by John and Jaap in 2002.  We hoped to join forces so that the band 'Euphoriqa' and 'The Orchestra' could play together as one, utilising the skills and techniques of orchestral and synth-style music. We hope that we have managed to achieve this in the way intended.

In the beginning of this song, 'Euphoriqa' keeps the lead of the song, and 'The Orchestra' is supposed to come in (at around 2:20), and they both join together again as one at the end part in a wonderful crescendo. The volumes of this version, were deliberately premastered on a massive scale, because we did not want this song to end up sounding like and released by others like a remix.

Unfortunately, due to little studio availability and practise time for members of  'The Orchestra', we all decided only last Friday (6-9-13), to pre-release this song to share with you, as a 'Euphoriqa' release, and then to continue this duet further at a later stage.  Thus, what you are listening to now is still a WIP [Work in Progress], and other members of 'Euphoriqa' will also contribute more with additional guitar solos.

Irrespective, what you hear now brings us great pride and inspiration to continue working on it further and to share with you. Because this version is still a WIP, and may not be of the quality that many have come to expect from us, or perhaps what we even aimed for, we achieved this in such a small amount of time, that we are very proud of what we have accomplished so far.   

I only wish that my former co-writer / composer, Jaap, was here now to enjoy working further on this latest version, but I know he would have loved it very much. Thus,  I would also like to dedicate this piece, 'Conquest of Paradise' to my dear friend Jaap. 

We all hope that you will enjoy our first duet version of 'Conquest of Paradise', and we would like to thank the members and the director of “http://soundcloud.com/the-orchestra” for inspiring us to finish this piece. We had a lot of fun making it.

Euphoriqa - Conquest of Paradise

This track is based upon the melody I have lately in my mind that was inspired by some classical concerts I have seen recently in Concert Hall "Lisinski".
Written especially for the G-technology Driven Creativity Competition 2013 and it took me about 3 weeks to finish it.
Update: Poseidon was shortlisted among best 15 composition and one of the most listened on competition.

It happens to everybody, you lost someone you love so deeply, and still want to say how much you need them, or want to be able to say or show how much you care, or like in my case we were never really able to say how much we cared about each other, (or we just wanted to talk) because of a language barrier, and the things you want most of all, is to have just 5 more minutes to share or say how much you love and miss them, or how much you wish you could have one more walk and share everything you've always wanted to say but couldn't before.

That happend to me last night, finally I could talk with my father in law who I love so deeply, but I was never really able to say it, but now I know that he knew and he felt it through my music and my expressions, my attitude and my way of treating him and his loved ones.

Now I have peace of mind, heart and soul, Spasibo Papa, ya tebya lublu. (thank you dad, I love you)

This was sincerely  "my dream to dream" 

I call it a dream others call it a vision, but after my dream this melody that you're hearing now was going through my head, and never in my life did i perform and produce a song as this one, and creating everything within the smalest detail, went like automatically, like i already knew how to do it, and I never completed a song so fast in my intire life.


So never ever forget to say how much you care and love your loved ones while you still can.

This Symphonic Rock version and cover of John Barry's composition, was still waiting to be finished in a different arrangement for a very long time, and I am happy that Matt and I finally did, and we really hope you'll enjoy this version just as much as we did making it.
We combined synt sounds with real instruments in this piece.
I am happy that some of my friends encouraged me to do more of my Symphonic Rock music as well, because picking up some of the earlier songs I've worked on, also makes me feel good and cheerful again, and give me new inspiration for new originals.

Have you ever been in the situation that your child couldn't talk, because she was in so much pain of the treatments fighting her illness, and she only watched you with tears in her eyes full of question, I have, and it hurts like hell, because you can't answer them the way you want. 
The feeling and pain deep inside yourself, and not being able to answer or to help in any way you want, of course you can hug her, and show you that really care for her and love her with all your heart, but when she falls a sleep, you continue wondering what you could have done, the answer what comes to mind is.............................

I know this by my own experience, and it made me compose this song, which I just couldn't finish, luckely I have great friends within Quenya Projects helping me to finish this song soon.

I recieved so many letters from listeners having to experience the same problems I had, and I am happy to hear how much comfort people get from my music, and therefor I also hope that this piece will comfort you as well, and know that you can only do your best to help your kid. 
Unfortunedly sometimes that aint enough for yourself, that's exactly what I tried to say with this piece, but remember there is always hope, and recieving the conformation of your own child when she older, that she is happy that you were always there for her, makes everything worth while, and it will take away a lot of that pain later on.

This is a pre-release on my site hoping to get advice or comments that might help us to complete this song later on with the band.
