In 2013, horse meat was found in food products labelled as 100 percent beef. To prevent further scandals, the European Parliament is expected to ask in a resolution on February 11 for a mandatory origin labelling for all meats in processed food. A day before the vote, two members of the European Parliament, who are in favour of this compulsory labelling, said during the Euranet Plus weekly "U talking to Me?" debate this will ensure better traceability in the food chain and better information for consumers.
