I don't think that she has a problem with him covering Marvin's songs.  The issue is that he is not deviating from Marvin's sound at all.  If you are not going to put your own twist on it, then what's the point, you're simply mimicking the original.  You can't establish your own sound or style by completly copying someone else. Create  your own legacy and sound.

i think its more personal for her....she's hurt and it just brought up....feelings....remember....a lot surrounded Marvin's death...and you cant deny,...October's point of reference was Marvin...and i gotta admit....he's on point...

The man is bringing a sound back that ppl haven't heard since the late great Marvin Gaye! I love that this sound is being brought  back to life! it gives our younger generation a real chance to experience the kind of music that we grew up on.

Marvin Gaye's Sister Zeola need to get over her issues, because, October London is bringing back the music that our Souls have been missing. God gave gifts to Marvin and October. When people hear October, you think of Marvin. IMO she's being selfish!

If she thought about it, October London is making people love and appreciate Marvin Gaye even more! At least October is singing his own songs. #RespectToOctober

She comes off as a Negative person. And She seeks out anybody and anyone that is paying homage. And Its Lackluster because she should be Happy people are keeping his name alive. Alot of male singers DONT even be remembered anymore.

it blew my mind that this young man sound so much like him and thank God for giving him the blessing to sing. God has given many people  singing gift and He chooses whomever He wants. We are happy to hear it.  How many blacks had music out and....

I totally agree with Zeola. It’s not artistry when someone completely hijacks and copies the vocals and instrumentation of Marvin. Ro James has vibes of Prince but he doesn’t DUPLICATE his vocals and instrumentation that Prince created.

No one can come close to Marvin. With that being said, October London’s album at a time when the state of music these days needed rescuing. The rebirth of marcin gave me a little hope. I understand how she feels, and will not take that away.

This artist is currently performing a tribute.  I am an admirer of Marvin Gaye's work. His performance is respectful and introduces new audiences to Gaye's music. While his vocal stylings evoke Gaye's, he is not attempting imitation.

When Zeola Gaye heard October London's single "Make Me Wanna" for the first time, the artist sounded so much like her late brother Marvin Gaye that it freaked her out. And not in a good way.
