As an experiment I made this custom mix of the Alton Towers Black Hole 1996 soundtrack, originally produced for Alton Towers by Graham Smart. It's one odd, eclectic ride score and one of my favourites from the park!

Using a high quality copy I partly separated some of the instruments to emphasise some elements here and there. It's a little makeshift since I don't have the multitrack but here it is just for fun and interest.

The original source music remains the property of Alton Towers & Merlin Entertainments.

Alton Towers Black Hole 1996 [ETPA Custom Remix]

A digital transfer of a Prof Burp's Bubble Works soundtrack production master. This is the reel (marked 'master copy') that was delivered to Sparks, containing the music tracks in mono to transfer to the ride sound stores.

As you can hear the tape is now very degraded and I've gone as far as I can to denoise & improve the sound quality. The Bottling room (fairground) track is also missing from the tape. Unfortunately it's pretty unusable quality so am posting here just for niche interest!

Prof Burp's Bubble Works, Chessington – Production Master (Degraded)

The complete soundtrack to the Haunted Castle show at Pleasurewood Hills. This very big and memorable attraction was the original show in the park's castle theatre. The full soundtrack has now been rediscovered after 30 years.

After a preshow scene, guests came into to a castle auditorium where characters appeared (live action and animated), with Igor the talking vulture, Uncle Boris awakening from his coffin and a mad organist who gets a little carried away. The show ended with the infamous hanging man dropping above the audience and a witch that flew over the scene. The park was American-themed then, hence the Vincent Price impression!

This soundtrack was found as part of my book project on Keith Sparks, whose studio produced the whole show for Pleasurewood. Now updated with the missing preshow audio!

The full soundtrack to The Vampire at Chessington, with the lost chapel / corridor audio and station music. Here it is mixed from an original cassette production master, after the music dubbed with SFX.

This original station mix was lost after the ride was upgraded to new audio tech and the music replaced entirely in 2020. 

The organ and backing track were originally zoned to sound good in the space, but played together at home this would sound like one big mono track. So for easy listening I've carefully mixed the two tracks with a false stereo effect.
