3 QUESTIONS to JUST EMMA:

Q: Talking about your classics selection. How did these tracks have an impact on your career?

A: It took us a while to figure out the set list for this mix as we both have a huge background that came from different styles. So we decided to choose tracks that shaped our today's sound the most. Some of the tracks are 8-12 years old and it's still nice to listen to them as they never get old. There´s so much love on details, arrangement and sound design that you´ll still get goosebumps while listening. It´s the art of sound that you can dive into every emotion, doesn´t matter in which kind of mood you are right now. 

Q: As a duo its never easy to match the same taste. How do you manage that while producing, DJing or simply selecting music?

A: Since we met first we knew that we have to make music together, especially because we have the same taste of music and that´s not really often. But for us it´s easy to get into the same mood.

Q: Which future Just Emma and Underyourskin projects are getting hot?

A:  Currently we are working on our live-set which will go out beginning of next year and we´re about to produce a new single for our imprint „Underyourskin Records“.

Solid Steel (14th September) In Hour 1 we welcome Dorian Concept following the release of “The Nature of Imitation” on Brainfeeder last month. Born Oliver Thomas Johnson, the self-taught keyboardist and producer should be no stranger to those in the Brainfeeder orbit. He first caught the attention of the crew in its infancy, when head honcho Flying Lotus discovered Dorian Concept’s MySpace profile and swiftly included a remix in his lauded debut Essential Mix (2008). Dorian Concept went on to tour with FlyLo’s live band, appeared at some of Brainfeeder’s earliest international label nights in 2009 and released a string of celebrated EPs and albums for Kindred Spirits imprint Nod Navigators, Affine and Ninja Tune. His mix includes music from Kwes, Freeform, Wendell Harrison, Venetian Snares, Hudson Mohawke, Yellow Magic Orchestra and a couple of his own unreleased tracks.

Rafael Anton Irisarri is a multi-instrumentalist, record producer, mastering engineer and curator living in New York. His story with Ghostly International begins in 2008 with the release of his debut as The Sight Below. He's since worked with the likes of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Terry Riley, and Grouper, and has lent a hand to countless projects orbiting the Ghostly label including albums by Steve Hauschildt, Telefon Tel Aviv, and Lusine. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Irisarri grew up playing in punk and reggae bands before the world of electronic music opened up to him in the 1990s. His GhostlyCast mix, In Blue Rooms, is a tribute to this formative time. He explains, "I'm a product of ambient chill rooms — that's where I'd find myself most comfortable whenever I went to the clubs or attended raves. The mix contains ambient music I first heard in those rooms. You can hear all kinds of styles in this mix – I felt compelled to keep it this way and teleport, through the music, to this very fertile era of music discovery when genres intermingled and had infinite possibility."
