Desert Dwellers is the convergence of music producers Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, but before they formed this project they called themselves Amani vs Teapot and were making uptempo house and techno music starting way back in 1999! One of their biggest tracks was "Wise Man Speaks" which was released on a Chris Fortier compilation for Bedrock Records.

When Australian Progressive House mastermind GMJ learned that Desert Dwellers was once Amani vs Teapot he instantly remembered loving their Wise Man Speaks track and was super inspired to remix it! He certainly delivered an absolute gem of a remix bringing new life to this classic!

Getting in on the remix as well is Dreaming Awake label boss and Desert Dweller himself Treavor Moontribe who also brings forth a rocking Progressive House with a sweet rolling bass line and additional melodies to compliment elements from the original mix.

Just for fun we have also added the original 2002 version so people can hear where these new mixes come from!

Exclusive new EVAC tune written for the Rewire Vinyl Boxset/Exhibition. The project is a collaborative release by Andrea Parker's Touchin' Bass label and the Gamma Proforma art collective. It's a seriously cool project and I'm proud to have been a part of it!

‘Rewire - Part A’ is a digital album of 13 tracks that came about through a Kickstarter project curated by Rob Swain of Gamma Proforma and Andrea Parker of Touchin’ Bass featuring tracks from Cristian Vogel, Luke Vibert, Arovane, Kero, Einoma, EVAC, Andrea Parker & Daz Quayle, Plaster, Quinoline Yellow, Bogger, Dalglish, Ed Devane and Clatterbox.

In 2014, an international line up of visual artists created works which were interpreted sonically by audio artists, effectively reversing the common record model where the artist creates an image to capture the mood of the music. The art and interpretations were exhibited at The Gamma Transport Division during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The visual works came from a curated line up of abstract urban artists from Gamma Proforma. The audio artists were selected from the vein of experimental electronic music.

Having always wanted to curate, collaborate and combine all things art and electronics this project was the perfect solution. The experience of viewing a painting can be altered profoundly when combined with sound, yet it's rarely presented this way. Rewire is all about pictures of sound, a collection that sought to challenge the audio artists, giving them a reason to write. Listening to each interpretation is like stepping into the art, immersing yourself and not wanting to come back to reality.

This is a collection of my personal favorite tracks I've made over the last 6-8 months that contains 23 original tunes. I'm extremely excited to present this year's mix composed of IDs I've been rinsing, brand new tunes, and collabs with some homies. Originally this bad boy was going to be a significantly shorter, but I ended up just throwing all of the tracks I enjoyed into it. If you stick around until the end you might even hear some garage/breaks type shit. Thank you all for the continued support throughout 2024 and into 2025, this whole music thing has gone much further than I could have imagined already and I can't wait to see what 2025 has in store.
