After over a year of being locked down in his studio, Evan Hatfield has emerged with a groundbreaking, full-length debut album, due for release on Pinkturban on August 13th, 2021.

Exploring an array of electronic genres, Evan's self-titled album is glued together by his virtuosic Indian sitar playing and deeply powerful electronic production.

By incorporating traditional Indian classical ragas, Evan's music strikes a chord that is both intrinsically ancient and highly modern. Each track feels at home in both a pair of headphones or on a desert dance floor.

Over the years, Evan has worked with a variety of artists such as Goldcap, Sabo, Pippi Ciez, and many others in the Organic House genre. Evan has gathered a tremendous amount of inspiration from these artists and simultaneously taken that classic desert party sound to a whole new realm.

The genre on Evan's tracks ranges from classic deep house to techno to world bass. All highlight his exquisite and intricate sitar playing. Evan Hatfield's self-titled album fuses the worlds of Indian classical and electronic music in a way that has never truly been explored until now!

Up next on the Pinkturban record label is sitar player and techno artist Evan Hatfield's magical debut EP, 'Raga Mala.'

"Raga Mala" (meaning a mixture of Indian ragas) features the Indian string instruments, Esraj and Sitar, combined with deep drums and bass in a 111 bpm medley that might make you feel like reality is melting around you. Following it up is "Magic Flute," which offers the soothing sounds of Native American flute by Kat Special.

The legendary Goldcap, known for his journey-making sets from Burning Man to the Sahara, delivers a spectacular remix of "Raga Mala" destined for the dancefloors.

Egyptian calligraphy artist Mahmoud Gafar provides Arabic Square Kufic artwork that reads "A Long Lover's Night," an excerpt from the Sufi poet Rumi.

Hatfield All Original Summer Mix

Evan Hatfield and Elisa Rose created “Veuela Vuela” together through a spurt of musical inspiration. The lyrics, sung in Spanish by Elisa, translate to “Fly, fly little bird, sunlight returns, Grow, grow little soul, Open, open my heart.” The piece of music has a haunting optimism, a sorrow-filled joy, and uplifting depth. Evan and Elisa have worked and created music together for many years and this is the first collaboration by them to be released.

Evan Hatfield is a multi-instrumentalist and music producer based in Southern California. His unique and eclectic musical style combines his training in classical Indian music, the psychedelic and funk bands he plays with, and the western classical composers he was brought up listening to. Evan’s music has been remixed by the artist Goldcap and released on the Pinkturban record label. He has performed at West Coast music festivals such as Lucidity, Oregon Eclipse 2017, Echo Park Rising, and numerous underground after-parties in the Los Angeles area. Evan's energy knows no bounds, which enables him to connect with his audience and bring them an extraordinary musical experience.

Pippi Ciez is from Birmingham, England and is undoubtedly one to watch out for on the rising electronic music scene. His style is diverse and creative. Pippi retains the original heart of tribal drum patterns, incorporates slices of Indian influences, and uses layers of digital and analog machines to infuse African instrumentation. We can expect tremendous things from Pippi in 2020. He has upcoming releases on Do Not Sit, Behrouz’s label, his own label Inward Records, and Chicago Imprint Zolotaya Orda. Following his debut EP release on Pinkturban, Evan Hatfield returns to the label with his next offering, 'Confused Ravi EP.'

"Confused Ravi" is a luscious mix of house, techno, and Indian classical music. It features a seductive sitar performance by Evan himself, escorted by deep groovy rhythms and synthesizer syncopations.

The track is inspired by the moment world-renowned sitar player Ravi Shankar discovers that George Harrison of The Beatles is coming to India to study sitar with him. Considering how, at that time, the West generally paid little attention to Eastern culture, it came as a great surprise to Shankar.

Hitting it hard on the B-side is 'Time', a gritty dancefloor track featuring Evan's sitar and oud skills. Both tracks marry a balance of other-worldly soundscapes and tasteful composition that further defines this unique artist.
