Pfunzo – Education is one of the most important components in traditional music since music is a prominent vehicle in educating people about social lessons within a community. The performance of this music will demonstrate a pure tshigombela dance style without any overlay of western instruments. This is to demonstrate how the music feels in its purest form. I composed this piece with a view to impressing on the young ones the importance of education. When I worked with the tshigombela group I realized that they often used the same dance steps borrowed from other songs. That is why I introduced my own original dance steps which the group was happy to use. The group leader approved the new things I introduced to the group and the dance steps and have become part of their own repertoire.
